Dhaka Customs House has seized 70 OnePlus Pro mobile handsets illegally carried from a passenger at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport without paying any tax. These were recovered by searching his bag at midnight. The market value of these is about 80 lakh rupees. Assistant Commissioner (Preventive Team) of Dhaka Customs House Md. Solaiman Hossain confirmed the matter on Monday (September 14th) afternoon. At that time, Jahangir Alam, a passenger from Dubai, was challenged and searched at one stage of the surveillance and search on the Green Channel. Scanning the bag with him, 70 mobile phones were found inside the bag. Its estimated market value is around Tk 60 lakh. Arrangements have been made in the Customs Act regarding the seized mobiles. Note that the mobile handset is a taxable product. Usually it is necessary to have an import permit before importing. It also has to declare the number and price of the goods at customs before carrying it.
