This one will make it easier for people to make that crucial journey.
An app that uses blockchain has been kicked-off for the benefit of travelers during the pandemic.
The name of the app is ICC AOKpass and it is used to know if one is a carrier of COVID-19 or not. CEO Dorjee Sun of Perlin blockchain firm described the app this way on CIR Magazine:
“[It] uses a common global standard that can be deployed and used anywhere in the world today. It can adapt to the rules of any given country and allows users to instantly verify their COVID-19 compliance status anytime, anywhere.”
Many companies have tried the app and one of them is Energy Drilling and International SOS based in Singapore. A few workers were chosen to meet a client with an oil drilling platform but they had to do a COVID-19 test. The app, which is based on Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), was used and the results were transferred to the client after saving them. This made it easier to for them to embark on the journey.
International SOS Singapore’s Managing Director, Juliana Gim, is of the opinion that the ICC AOKpass will make it easier for people to travel from one country to another even as COVID-19 poses a challenge.
“The successful pilot of ICC AOKpass with Energy Drilling is encouraging as it marks an important step in our journey and the aim of implementing a trusted and standardised global system to facilitate the return to work across many industries. In time, we hope that this will see widespread adoption to facilitate a fast, safe and secure return to work.”
The blockchain industry has been so creative since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. At least, it has done so well in helping the travel industry to still be in business.
