1samuel 18:1-4; 2corinthians 6:14-18

Relationship is defined as the way people are connected one with another. It is sometimes called interpersonal relationships. An interpersonal relationship is a sting, deep or close association or acquaintance between two or more people. It could be as family relations, friends, classmates, neighbor or even among church members. Friends are necessary for encouragement, counseling, assistance, sharing of ideas, praising God and prayers together. Based on God's commandments and expected mutual benefits, relationship could be either right or wrong.

We'll consider three things;

1. Signs Of Right Relationship

Proverbs 18:24 and 1corinthians 13:1-8

Characteristics of right relationship include the following;

- Mutual Respect: Good friends place trust in each other and respect one another.

- Positive Comprise: In a relationship, each partner does not always get his ways. Each should be willing to accept the opinion of the other.

- Individuality: No loss of personal identity in true relationship. Each should be supportive of the partners aspirations or career pursuit.

- Good Communication: Each partner should speak honestly and openly to avoid miscommunication.

- Problem Solving: Partners help each other to overcome challenging situations.

- Understanding: Each partner should take time to understand what the other might be feeling.

- Role Model: Partners inspire each other to act in a respectful manner.

2. Signs Of Wrong Relationships

Genesis 34:1-3

It is important to recognize signs of wrong relationship in order to quit early. Apart from intimidation, violence and sexual abuse, some other signs of wrong relationship includes;

- Bullying: One partner makes all the decision and tell the other what to do.

- Hostility: One partner picks up a fight with or antagonizes the other without a cause.

- Sinful Influence: One partner may be a bad influence on the other by encouraging him/her to join in doing evil.

- Dishonesty: One partner makes fun of the personality opinions and interest of the other.

- Dependence: One partner makes the other feels that he/she cannot do without him/her.

3. Choosing Wisely

2corinthians 6:14-18

A wise person needs a partner that will help to attain success. Right relationship can help to achieve more than what could be achieved alone (Ecclesiastes 4:9). A persecuted individual could be helped to maintain his/her stand when he/she sees a good partner taking their stand. A good friend will help his/her partner to escape death and other calamities (1samuel 20: 11-13)...........Join right relationship!
