Lesson 3: Where did God come From? Genesis 1:1, John 1:1

When there was yet nothing, where was God? Where did God come from?

Gods book the Bible says that: Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

God was already existing before the heavens and the earth existed because they had their beginning from him. When there was yet nothing, there was already God. There was no condition or time in the past when there was no God. A state or condition that there was no God in the past never existed because such state cannot exist.

Example: when you close your eyes and ask ourselves what can we see, we would usually answer "nothing" but in reality we can see there was darkness. Again, if we imagine that everything we see around us does not exist (no people, no plants, no sky, no air, no stars, no universe and nothing exists) an empty space would exist. If you would imagine to take away that empty space, a much bigger empty space would exist and so on. We cannot really make space disappear such that there is totally "nothing" and no space would exist.

Absolute nothingness could not exist because there is really no such thing as "when there was nothing". In the beginning, there was God. He has always been there self-existing. There was not a time when God was not existing for there was no state and condition in the past when there was absolutely nothing and God was not existing. The word 'beginning' does apply to him, for there is no beginning for God.
