From the past we have learned that sin originated from Satan who brought it to earth at his fall. In seeking his revenge with God, Satan infected Adam and Eve, whom God created in His image, with sin. From then on, like a dreaded disease, Adam infected all his offspring with sin. All mankind born after Adam were born sinners or infected with sin. This is how sin and death came and spread to all mankind.
Then mankind after Adam became so many, and at the time of Noah, sin and corruption spread all over the earth. The people and world became so filthy and unclean in God's eyes that God decided to destroy all the people and everything that is in the world.
Then God sent a great flood and all who neglected God and did not believe God's word perished. Noah and his family were the only ones saved. God told Noah to build an ark to save them from the flood because He counted Noah as righteous. Even though Noah was born as a sinner, Noah did not give in to sinfulness. Instead, he believed, walked with and had faith in God and His promises while the rest followed sinfulness and Satan.
Noah and those that were with him were the only survivors of the flood. While they were in the ark, God remembered Noah. Satan was not able to destroy Noah with sin because Noah believed, had faith and obeyed God rather than the deception of Satan.
Noah became God's hope through which the promised "seed of a woman" whose birth Satan tried to prevent, will be born to crush Satan and save mankind from sin. The flood receded and the ark landed on My. Ararat.
