The Origin of Satan

Just how did Satan come to existence and become an evil spirit? God's book tells the stories of two kings. One lived in the city Tyre, the other in Babylon. These kings were influenced, if not possessed, by Satan, and they manifested in themselves the evil characteristics of Satan. These two kings were the personification of Satan. What God says about them teaches us who Satan is, where he came from and what happened that he turned into God's enemy - a Satan.

This is what God said to the king of Babylon who personified Satan. God said through the Prophet Isaiah:

Isaiah 14:12-14

12“How you are fallen from heaven,     O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth,     you who destroyed the nations of the world. [13]For you said to yourself,     ‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods     far away in the north. [14]I will climb to the highest heavens     and be like the Most High.’

God alluded through what He said to the king of Babylon that Satan was a fallen angel from heaven who was once called or described as "Lucifer". He was cast down to earth because he attempted to make himself as God and rule God's creations for himself.

Lucifer was not an ordinary cherub angel. He was a guardian of God's throne. He was in the position beside God's throne closest to God. Where God's throne was, Lucifer was there in his God-given splendor. However, because of his beauty Lucifer became proud. Because of his splendor or fame, Lucifer misused his power and wisdom. He became wicked and violent in his heart and sinned against God.

So, God drove him out. God threw him down from heaven when he attempted to ascend to establish his own throne in heaven and make himself as God ruling over the universe.

Sin made Lucifer a spiritually unclean and wicked spirit. Lucifer did not eat or touch anything that made him unclean or impure. It was the pride in his heart that made him wicked and sin against God. So, the pure and Holy God cast him out.

From then on Lucifer became God's bitter enemy, an adversary or a Satan. He is now called Satan. The Bible teaches that Satan took with him in rebellion to God one-third of the angels in heaven(Rev.12:3, 4,9) and they followed him. These angels who have fallen with Satan are now called evil spirits, demons, unclean or impure spirits or simply fallen angels. Satan is their leader.

Any thought?
