Man multiplied as God said. Adam and Eve gave birth to a third son, Seth. They had other sons and daughters too. Cain and Seth also had their own descendants. One of Seth's descendants was Lamech.

Genesis 5:28-32 [28]When Lamech was 182 years old, he became the father of a son. [29]Lamech named his son Noah, for he said, “May he bring us relief from our work and the painful labor of farming this ground that the lord has cursed.” [30]After the birth of Noah, Lamech lived another 595 years, and he had other sons and daughters. [31]Lamech lived 777 years, and then he died. [32]After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

When men began to increase in number and daughters were born to them, the birth of the promised savior, a MALE offspring of a woman who will crush Satan, becomes a possibility. If you are Satan, you don't want this to happen. What do you think Satan would do?

Genesis 6:2-4 [2]The sons of God saw the beautiful women and took any they wanted as their wives. [3]Then the lord said, “My Spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years.” [4]In those days, and for some time after, giant Nephilites lived on the earth, for whenever the sons of God had intercourse with women, they gave birth to children who became the heroes and famous warriors of ancient times.

Satan and his angels tried to destroy the women so the promised seed of a woman will never be born. The irony is that the daughters of men cooperated with the seduction of Satan despite the protestation of God's Spirit. Satan's fallen angels interfered with man's procreation (marrying) causing women to bear genetically abnormal offspring beyond the size God intended for man. These Nephilim captured the adoration and worship of man as gods.

God's spirit struggled with man convicting them of their sins since the time of Cain, but man continued to reject God. Now God has decided to give mankind 120 years more in order to repent.

Genesis 6:5-7 [5]The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. [6]So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart. [7]And the Lord said, “I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them.”

Mankind followed the ways of Satan just like Cain. Each one followed their sinful and wicked desired. All have sinned (Rom.3:23). They neglected God. Man has given in to sinfulness. Satan has subdued man's heart and minds. Through sin, Satan and his evil spirit's controlled mankind.

God grieved that man He created and loved will suffer His punishment because they followed sinfulness and the dictates of Satan and his evil angels or spirits. Though God is love, He will punish sin because God is also just and He hates sin. Though God is patient and He is not willing that man will perish, God's patience will also end because God must also execute justice. God has decided to wipe out all mankind from earth because all became wicked because mankind followed sin and evil.
