Earning or Being given a Gift
I know if we are asked to pick between earning some amount of money or being given a monetary gift. Almost everyone, if not everyone will go for the latter. I saw a post related to this on noisecash but skipped it. A few minutes later I started thinking about it but I couldn’t find the post again. Money can have a huge impact on someone's mood , whether earned or being given as a gift. It takes away all (maybe not all) worries in a second. I can remember an elder once saying "Give food or money to an hungry man and not words and see how his mood will change suddenly " Being Gifted a monetary gift It’s something great to be given money without you doing anything. The joy that comes with this is incomparable. Suddenly the things you plan on doing for months become possible. Money is one thing that people, on the whole, crave for, but it is also one of the most dangerous things on earth if not handled properly. If you are given money, then the onus is on you to trace the source of that money before you can safely accept it without raising eyebrows. Personally, I hate taking gifts from people even if I know them well, and even then I prefer to give gifts than accept them. It's something a lot of friends complained about and I'm still working on changing. I am given money occasionally by some friends. But given our present economic situation, where there are so many con-men around, I want to be safe than sorry. If giving me gifts, then my friends must know that my sense of humour is very peculiar. When I say gifts I'm sure you know what I'm saying. A friend selling and delivering food or any product offering me one as a gift, is quite different from the gift I'm talking about. Some people will offer you incentives to do things for them. That's dangerous. When someone says "I will give you this on one condition..." . Listen to the condition well before pledging. The danger of accepting a monetary gift is that most times there are things attached to it. the giver might expect some things in return for the gift given to you. `It's been a while I greeted my sponsors. Thank you all for your continuous support. It's appreciated`. Earning your own money There are many benefits to working for yourself, besides that it is a dream come true. It could also be one of the most rewarding experiences because you are not tied down to someone else’s goal, instead, you can set your own goals. To understand the benefits, the first thing to understand is the value of working for yourself. One of the most common reasons people work for themselves is because they want to have more control over their income. After all, ultimately they want to have more time to enjoy life. Besides being able to have more control over your time, you can also have more control over your own goals. If you want to achieve big goals then you should be working towards them at all times. Because getting paid to do something you enjoy is the true definition of earning. Imagine if you could work for yourself, setting your own hours and your own. And the best part is not depending on anyone when you need money. Being at the mercy of someone is something distasteful and unpleasant. I don't want to be in that situation, ever again. Conclusion I've come to realise that the joy derived from working for your own money beats that from being gifted. The way you spend also differs. You spend the money you earn with caution while there's the probability that you will spend the money you get freely loosely. It's hard choosing between the two, but I prefer both. Who doesn't love a gift? Lol. Likewise, I will love to work for my own money and not feel indebted to anyone. I still chose to earn money than given.. the fulfillment of getting money on your own is the best than just receiving a gift.
I think it's better working for your money and be paid for it. When you are gifted with something or money you won't know how much you should value it, it is something you should handle with, but when you work for it you keep remembering the stress and all so you tend to manage it well.
Yeah, we all love gifts but working for your own money is superb. Working for money has more guaranteed confidence on the continous source compared to receiving a gift. But a good investment on the recieved gift(if money) can go a long way. Vice versa
If me i would like to let myself work and earn i don't want to have monetary from my family i want to use my own strength in earnings if only i could jave the chance.
Yeah... You're right... Money gifted almost always comes with an unfavourable attachment... I also like to work and earn...
Well said brother. Specially those lines about conditions. Before promising please understand the conditions.
There is nothing as good as earning money by yourself Because as for me I don't like depending of someone and if I should ask someone for money then it means I really need it so bad and urgent
Making money through hard work makes us more happy and bold enough to make any attempts. Monetary gifts are only just reminders , they never make us happy.
I love it when I earn my money myself because it's from my hard work. Even if someone gift you, they still use it against you one day but having control over your own money would relieve you.
Gifting can never get anyone anywhere. When people receive a gift they quickly spend it up because they didn't work for it, but with what a person work for much care is taking in using it.
I definitely prefer earning my own money than been given a monetary gift. I may accept the monetary gift the first time, but I won't accept it next time because of one main reason; I don't like being indebted to someone. Aside money, if I keep collecting something from someone, I will end up feeling guilty that I am taking advantage of the person and living life a parasite, so I will rather don't do that and hustle my own money
I think that I have never or very few times given money to someone. This practice is not seen much around here. Better is to give a good gift and everything is fine. Money is always a double meaning.
Money earned stays longer as they say but who doesn't like gifts like you mention. Earn to receive gifts, that's my new motto
It is good that the rewards are the result of your own work, I do not like to enjoy the work of others. We all have different needs. I do not like to ask, I adjust to my possibilities.
