Installing WordPress, learning and even coding (plugin development) here is much easier than other CMS. Moreover WordPress is light / lightweight. If you don't know programming, you can make a complete website with it. Blogs are basically made with WordPress, but nowadays WordPress has a lot of plugins that can be used to create ecommerce sites, forums, etc.
