I remember watching this for a biochemistry lecture on proteins and lipids since the brain mostly consists of those but as i watched the video, it got me thinking, the brain truly is a neglected organ. Sure we say get enough sleep, eat healthy foods and enough sugar to sustain the brain but what about when it gets damaged? When people experience mental and psychological disorders?
As someone whose checked with a psychiatrist about anxiety and as someone whose witnessed friends go to their psychiatric assessments and check ups. It's sad that the medication is always just a trial and error. Lucky if it works but sorry if it doesn't is always the thing but with psychology taking a step up in the world, i think brain scans are essential to the treatment now. It helps tailor the medication and treatment because everyone's brain activity would vary.
A brain scan will help with checking brain activity and deterioration, help understand what needs to be done and will eventually help with brain rehabilitation. The simple test could save much more lives compared to what practitioners are doing now, specially with people that barely show symptoms at all of any form of mental health problems.
The video also shows implied facts of why more men are prone to mental problems than females. Although it wasn't mentioned but men experience more physical pain that's somehow considered as just guys being guys. Besides the toxic masculinity view from society, of course, men engage in the more violent fist fights and such, they'realso sent out as soldiers and fighters, and the end results of those fights were never given any attention to in the end. I suppose now it couldn't come as a surprise as to why more men have anger management issues too. These behaviors only strengthen the fact that there is something wrong, there is a problem that should be treated more carefully than therapies
