[WP] The monster in the closet always makes one tremble. one day, you finally tell the the monster "Leave Creature" The monster answered back "But if I leave, who will protect you from the monsters"
It all started when Zach turned 5. Each night he would pester either of his parents if they could sleep in their room for that night. most of the time he would be allowed to but in times where his parents wanted nothing more than to have the room for themselves, he was left with no other choice but to sleep in his own room. It was either that or he would get yelled at and grounded. Of course being grounded was out of the question. He barely even lingered for more than 5 minutes in his room. He was always in a rush to leave, the moment he entered.
At some point, his parents offered to install a night light but as soon as the door was closed, the night light only made things worse for him. It illuminated it more than he wanted. He could always still see it, the glowing red eyes that could still be seen from the closet door gratings. It was worse when he or his mom forgot to close the closet too. In those rare instances, he could clearly see the black figure that seemed to blend into the darkness of the night. The spikes along its spines, the large horns that might as well could pierce the door and the claws... The large blade-like claws that looked like it could kill an animal with ease.
For years and years, Zach lived in fear of his own room that he even asked if he could live in the basement instead but numerous times he would just be told to stay in his room and to stop making a fuss. For 5 years, the fear continued. Zach had turned 10 and he was then told that he should start facing his fears. And that he did.
One night he flung the closet door open and there a pair of eyes glowing red greeted him.
"Leave Creature"
The creature looked intently at Zach and to the boy's surprise, the creature looked saddened.
"If I leave... Who will protect you from the monsters?" Its voice was deep. And resonated terrifyingly so in the room. It was enough to send anyone on a run for their lives but Zach needed to stay firm and as much as he trembled and his fake courage was leaving his body, he needed the creature gone
"You're the monster here! Leave my closet! Go find somewhere else to go"
"But I've always protected you... You used to sleep with me"
"Sleep with a monster? ME? You must be mistaken."
"I used to be your favorite sleeping buddy and protector.."
The creature moved. It stepped out of the closet and if Zach thought it was already big, it doubled in size when it stood outside of the closet. The sight gave him chills and as creature reached for the boy, he made a run for it and escaped the room as soon as he could. Creature just stood there, gazing out the door Zach left from.
When morning came, Zach's parents found the boy had fallen asleep on the couch. He had tried to explain what had happened that night but his mother just got frustrated and guided him back to his room.
In the middle of his room, there lay a crochet doll that his late grandmother had given him so many years ago.
"Hey Zach, look. It's creature. The one nana gave you"
He took the doll in his hands and observed it intensely. The red beaded eyes, the black body, the plush spikes and horns that probably couldn't pierce anything. It looked different from how he had remembered it. Different from the monster that hid in his closet too.
"Maybe that's the monster you've been seeing so much" His mother said with a chuckle as she left Zach to get ready for the day
"Were you the creature in the closet?" No response. "Of course you aren't. a doll can't protect me" He placed the doll back down on his bedside table, maybe it wouldn't bother him that much if it were in plain sight.
That night, no creature stood watch in the closet.
"Looks like we can finally eat, boys" A sinister voice echoed in the room, accompanied with chilling whispers and murmurs
"W-Who are you!" Zach had immediately jumped into bed, pulling the covers high to cover himself
"WE.. We are the monsters your friend had warned you about" At that instant, Zach looked at the creature doll that sat idly on his bedside table "Too bad you sent him away"
He wanted to make a run for it but before his feet could even land on the floor, a black tentacle wrapped around his ankle and dragged him under the bed. Screams were the last thing Creature ever heard from his master.
As the real monsters devoured the boy, A single tear fell from his eye. He couldn't protect his beloved master.
Well it reminds me of my little experience as a child I hate the fake dear!!!
