[SP] Write a story about a gay prince
Truera, 18XX
For generations, the kingdom of Truera had always been blessed with female heirs that succeeded the throne. Never was it in their bloodline of the royal family to produce a male heir. That was until Eric came to this world. At first, the royal family was outraged. They even came so far as to blame his mother for having birthed a male.
For the first 10 years of young Eric's life, the fact that he was male remained hidden in the guise of dresses and having to refer to him as Erica outside castle premises. Each day would not pass where he would question his existence. And the acts of being female continued til the day he turned 12. During this age, he was often questioned why no bossom still grew from his chest and the fact that he had remained small unlike his cousins of the same age, they who were already maturing into fine ladies. The act could not be kept any longer. Eventually the royal family went on a hiring. The requirements: A thin frame, blonde hair, blue eyes and the girl had to be between the ages of 12-13.
Immediately after the announcements were made in the guise of looking for a new servant, children had came lining up, some with the presence of their parents while some went on their own accord. It wasn't even a question of why they shouldn't apply when serving the royal family meant prestige and a hefty reward for their services. Days, it took. To go through all the candidates; and as the final selection grew smaller in size, the lessons they received grew closer to those Eric received since his childhood. In the end of the selection, a girl named Sia was announced as the chosen girl.
She was formally introduced to the royal family and of course to Eric but not as the princess of Truera but as the unfortunate prince. In his place, she would take up lectures and meet the people Eric had long been acquainted with. Sia would be Erica, the princess. Of course for a while she stayed under Eric's observation even when she had her own room.
One time, when she was saddened by homesickness, she was allowed a visit from her family, although secretly. Among her visitors were her brother and almost immediately, the man didn't fail to capture Eric's attention. It was no surprise when Sia was a fine woman herself then definitely her family would be have the same appeal as she did but what struck him the most was that he could not take his gaze away from Sia's brother whom he soon learned was named Charles. Age: 14. 2 years older than Sia and a year older than Eric.
"Charles.. Charles..." Even after the departure of Sia's family, He kept on repeating the name, enjoying how much the name rolled off his tongue.
"It seems like you've found a liking to my brother" Sia teased on that same night as they were both settling in for bed. A deep red dusted Eric's cheeks yet he was so persistent on his denial.
"I-I'm not! I was just surprised that he looked so much like you!" He said with a loud huff as he pulled the covers higher to cover his reddened cheeks.
"Don't worry, I think he likes you too" Sia muttered, sleepiness already evident in her tone yet Eric could still feel that teasing grin plastered on her face even as they both drifted off to sleep.
Sia's family visited more often and it wasn't long until the three would start disappearing somewhere for small adventures around the castle. If they ever got questioned, they would just say, Eric and Charles were suitors from another kingdom and that they both needed to get to know the princess more. Of course each time they would play that card they all rolled laughing at the lengths that their acts would go. From having to recite poetry to Sia to even having to offer her flowers, they were all just to keep the act up yet at times, Sia would leave the two to themselves when she gets summoned for lessons or for meetings and all the royal duties eventually got off his plate.
In those times, Eric would try to speak with Charles as much as he could, And at times they would even go adventuring on their own. And often times when Charles lead the way, they would often get lost. In those times, Eric would panic when it started getting dark. And when worse came to worst and he would just slump on the ground and cry, it was Charles who would hold embrace him or even hold his hand. Oh how Eric always wished that Charles wouldn't feel his pulse from their linked hands. He didn't want him to know how fast his heart beats whenever Charles held his hand and they managed their way out of the forests
By the time He was turning 18, Sia was 17 and Charles was turning 19. In a few days, Eric would be 18 and by then he would be free. He was no longer the frail looking boy from back when they all met, he studied and eventually became a prestigious author (of course, his parents still wanted him to have a life once the time came for him to leave). Sia would then be crowned and would be the next ruler of the country. Soon she would have to marry too. As for Charles, it was always a mystery with him. They never knew what was on his mind. There were no news of a lover of any sorts nor of any plans even after he had finished studying medicine, Charles refused to leave Eric and Sia's side. But they were proud of him. He earned prestige and eventually became the castle's attending physician. It was an honor and it allowed him to be closer with her sister and Eric whom he considered as his best friend.
Coronation day was approaching fast, and so was Eric's departure from the castle. Despite all the years, Sia and Eric continued to stay in the same room and it was only Sia who knew of his plans to depart. They thought it best if Charles knew nothing and it was the very last favor Eric could ever ask of Sia. He didn't want anyone to stop him, he wanted to write and explore more, something that he would never experience had he been born female. Although at times he was certain that he had the heart of a maiden, specially when it came to Charles but he would never mention that to him up front yet Sia always knew.
The day of the coronation came and it also marked the last day Eric had in the castle they all grew up in. For the last time, as the festivities proceeded, he wandered the empty halls, lingering around the places they would often spend their times in such as the library, the gardens, he needed to remember every scene for it would be the last.
As he approached the forest he and Charles so often got lost in, a voice came from somewhere. It was Charles, he was in the forest
"So this is where you were" He approached Eric and offered a smile, the same cheeky grin he would always show him "I had hoped you would be as excited as Sia for coronation day"
"I'm 18 now" his gaze fell to the ground, he was guilty for having to leave the man who had always been there for him, the only one he ever loved
"I know, happy Birthday!" Charles pulled him in a tight embrace. The height difference still was evident since his head pressed against Charles' chest. Warm. He would miss this and the unique scent that he always had. "You know... I plan to go traveling..."
Eric shot his head up and the look on Charles' face already told him that the man was well informed of his plan when that smug grin stretched upon his lips "O-oh, well have a safe trip" Again, red dusted his cheek as he gazed up at this man that seemed to already tease him with the discovery of his plans
"I was thinking... would you go with me?"
"But why?"
"Because I don't want anybody else's company. I love you, Eric" Eric thought wrong when the red on his cheeks could not get deeper. He was glowing beet red and tears began welling in his eyes. To avoid questioning he buried his face against the crook of Charles' neck and answered back with an "I love you" of his own.
Soon after the coronation feast was over, the two were nowhere in sight and Sia could only gaze out the window for she knew, the two were well on their way to new adventures together.
I only learned royalties having decoys when they are not available or they are away. (in movies) 😅. This is a new story for me.
