BATUAN/BATWAN - SOURING INGREDIENT/AGENT Viand for dinner, sapsap (fish) with batuan, as souring ingredient instead of kamias or tamarind. i bought it from a peddler passed in the shop yesterday for 10.00 per pack. Aside for souring ingredient, you can pickle it and eat with salt just like pickled mango. (a mouthwatering to think 🤭) According to https://www.aboutfilipinofood.com/batwan/ most of batuan/batwan can be found here in western visayas? Have you tried batuan

Sis I am not familiar with Batuan. Hehe. We're using kamias most of the time and tamarind, but for sapsap we usually have it kinamatisan lang. 😁
In visayas we have batuan tree.I seldom see batuan ni luzon, or in Manila.I can't find it in their market. We add batuan to tomatoes to get more sour taste.
Ahh I see. I'll ask my mother if familiar sya dyan. She's from Mindanao naman and she's been to Cebu din. Possible kilala nya yan. ☺
