ZAMBOANGA CITY -- A new case of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) has been recorded here as of Wednesday, increasing the total number of positive cases in this city to 196.
The local Inter-Agency Task Force Covid-19 said Thursday that the newly-confirmed case-ZC196--is a 20-year-old female from Barangay Mampang here.
The task force said ZC196 was admitted June 18 at a private hospital due to loose bowel movement (LBM), but went home on June 23 against medical advice.
ZC196 went to the place of her in-laws in Barangay Sinunuc after leaving the hospital, according to the task force.
However, she could not get up Thursday morning due to weakness of lower extremities prompting her to seek consultation at the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) and subsequently admitted due to potassium deficiency (hypokalemia).
The local IATF Covid-19 said the patient was swabbed and tested positive for Covid-19 based on the result released Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, the task force reiterated its advice to the public to strictly comply with the general community quarantine guidelines.
“Go out only for essential activities, avoid crowded places, wear a mask, and always practice hand hygiene,” the task force said. (PNA)
