Underwater, there is no sound, something is lurking in the background! (a Splinterlands challenge)
What is Splinterlands?
Splinterlands is a card game, similar to Hearthstone, where you can play battle against other players to get a better rank or in tournaments. It is an NFT game based on Hive Blockchain, with multiple ways to capitalize and make money, real money, by playing it or trading in it.
The Deeplurker is a Common Water Unit, from the Chaos Legion pack, and at max level it has a 6 Mana cost, 5 Melee Damage, 4 Speed and 7 Health. It is good at clearing behind the tank, with Opportunity skill at level 1, attacking the target with the lowest health, and starting from level 6 you got Poison skill added, making it easy to clear all the cards with Health lower that 6 in one single hit, if Poison applies. At max level 10 got an additional skill, Demoralize, decreasing all opponent cards Melee Attack by 1. To buy a fully upgraded level 10 card will cost you around $100, as the individual card right now is $0.25 each. Despite the high mana cost, it has decent health and damage, making it worth its while.
So, for the challenge, these were the starting conditions:
Mana Limit: 48
Rulesets: Spreading Fury (All monsters got Enrage)
Teams:
Mine - Summoner: Lir Deepswimmer (even if it was just level 1, I needed to use it against an opponent preferring ranged boost, as Return Fire was the real deal, and the +2 Armor boost combined with Blind made my team hard to kill), with Lobstradamus as main tank betting on his Shield ability to reduce both Melee and Ranged damage, Flying Squid with Reach, attacking from the second position, Deeplurker with Opportunity, to kill the cards with low health, Merdali Guardian to heal the tank, Nerissa Tridawn and Phantom of the Abyss for a big-time 6 Magic damage, with the latest having Flying and Dodge to make it last on the back.
Opponent - Summoner: General Sloane (+1 Ranged damage boost), with a strong Uriel the Purifier as the main tank, with Flying and Heal, not to mention Recharge, adding a dangerous 9 Melee Damage to the battle, Adelaide Brightwing with Flying, Repair Armor to support the tank and Resurrect, Lone Boatman with Snipe and Repair, once more, Supply Runner with Swift, adding 1 Speed and improving the odds for dodge, Pelacor Arbalest attacking twice per round and Flying, and Prismologist reducing damage with Forcefield and Blasting multiple enemies.
This was an interesting battle, with Pelacor Arbalest dying while attacking the first target, my Lobstradamus being eliminated second, then Lone Boarman and Prismologist being destroyed by Return Fire, and my Flying Squid dying in front of Uriel. Then finally I have managed to kill Uriel, the Supply Runner died by Fire Return and the mages managed to kill the last one.
Star of the game - I can only say that using Lir as summoner gave me an edge and helped me win, mainly because of the Ranged Return Fire, as the enemy team got 4 out of 6 Ranged attackers, that simply beat themselves down.
On a side note, my continuous support for Splintertalk.io is going well, with my SPT tokens number raising to 1 million. All of it is delegated to @monster-curator, as this account is doing great work curating the best posts on the forum. I have finally reached the needed SPT power (100K at the moment) to manually curate on Splinterlalk.io. Also, working on acquiring 50K Oneup next, inspired by the Carter efforts. Fancy the idea of having 200K Level too, for their airdrop.
All the best, George
