The flames can burn, but my Giant Roc rocks the stage, better than a mage (Splinterlands challenge)

1 28

The Giant Roc is a Common Fire unit, from Alpha/Beta, with 3 Melee Damage, 5 Speed and 6 Health at max level (10) with 5 Mana cost. At level 1 it has Flight (Chance to dodge Melee and Ranged attacks) and Reach (to attack from the second position), and at level 6 it got Trample, and keep attacking if it kills the first card on the team.

So, for the challenge, this were the starting conditions:

Mana Limit: 28

Rulesets: Target Practice (Ranged and Magic got Snipe) and Earthquake (2 damage every round for non-flying cards)

Teams:

Mine - Summoner: Tarsa (the new Fire summoner giving +1 attack and +1 health boost), with Living Lava as main tank, with a reducing Armor Rust skill and a reducing melee and ranged damage Shield , supported by the Giant Roc with Reach, attacking from the second position (which was ideal because of Flight). The I used the Kobold Miner, with decent health and Sneak, for 2 Mana cost (kept missing the Pixie from the last position), and the Flame Monkey, 1 Mana cost, to repair the Armor of the main tank as its only purpose. For a bit of extra damage, I used Lava Spider with Snare (remove Flight ability) to shot the opponent cards down from the sky and Spirit Miner with Dodge and Swiftness (increase all my team cards Speed by 1), to combine ranged and magic, in case of a penalty boost from the other team.

Opponent - Summoner: Malric Inferno with +1 Melee Attack boost, with Serpent of the Flame as main tank (quite difficult to beat with Poison and Retaliation, backed up by Flame Monkey with repair, useless because of my tank Rust, Tenyii Striker with Sneak and Dodge, Goblin Shaman reducing Health by 1 (cancelled by my summoner boost) and Speed by 1 (cancelled by my Spirit Miner boost), Pyromaniac with Sneak and Spark Pixies with Flight (evading quite few attacks from my monsters) and Stun (which activated quite a lot against me.

This was a game that was played until the last second, with no posibility to anticipate the winner. More than that, was an Old School team versus a Chaos Legion team kind of battle. First round, their Pixies stunned my Lava Spider, and their tank poisoned my tank, they missed twice on my Spirit Miner and I missed on the Pixie, with the Serpent even retaliating against my Roc. Then the Earthquake came, killing my Lava Spider and his Flame Monkey and Goblin Shaman. Round 2 - Spirit miner is dodging one attack, get stunned and finally dies with their Striker Sneak attack. Then the Earthquake kills his Serpent main tank and my Flame Monkey, leaving a seriously small formation in the arena. The end is near, and in the third round my Kobold dies, and his Striked dies, followed by the Pyromaniac. Then the pixies manage to kill my Lava main tank, and the Roc is killing them. Victory is mine!

Star of the game - The Giant Roc, surviving the whole battle and delivering enough killing blows to win the battle.

On the side note, my continuous support for Splintertalk.io is going well, with my SPT tokens number raising to 1 million. All of it is delegated to @monster-curator, as this account is doing a great work curating the best posts on the forum. Next, I am slowly building some SPT power (70K at the moment) to manually curate on Splinterlalk.io also.

All the best, George
