Short Story Challenge - Day 12

As I promised, this month I will do another writing challenge, this time the focus will be on storytelling, and I will try to immortalize a fragment of life, a short story about something that made me wonder, being that an idea or a peek into a stranger's life. Enjoy!

The Big Bad Wolf (18.11.2022)

This is a story from another century, long before the internet was invented. The grandfather of my grandfather was just a humble shepherd, battling the elements and taking care of his flock, as the seasons passed by. One winter, he had big problems with a wolf, who seems to just kill his animals for the sake of it, quite often, and not just for food. Something that nobody heard of lately, and in order to get rid of the attacker, he organized an ambush. Everything seems to work quite well, and one night, the wolf came sneakily. The dogs attacked it, but they were no match and were killed one by one. Even the shepherd lost his pitchfork and was forced to retreat into his hut. But the wolf was strong, and almost broke through the door. Tired and hurt, Dumitru, as this was his name, grabbed the fire tongs and use them to burn the wolf's face. In pain, the animal went running and disappeared, never to come back again. But this is not the end of the story.

Weeks later, Dumitru was at the local pub, having a drink, when he could almost sense somebody watching him. Turning around, he could see, at the back of the bar, a stranger, with a fire-thong-shaped burn mark on his face, eyes burning with hate.
