Half horse, half man, and I'm not Kylo Ren (A Splinterlands battle challenge) - Day 81
The Centaur is a Common Neutral Unit with 3 Ranged Attack, 6 Speed and 6 Health at max level, with a Snipe ability at level 1 (attacking Ranged, Magic or no attack monsters that are not of the first position) with only 4 Mana cost. Even at level 1, it is an useful card, ideal to use with other Ranged damage boosting summoners like for example Yodin Zaku. Even without the boost, using 2-3 Snipers, you can easily kill most of the enemy army in certain rulesets, like for example Little League ( where you can use only monsters with mana cost up to 4). Being from the Alpha/Beta set, buying a fully upgraded Centaur can easily cost you more than $1500. Which is completely useless, now that you can buy 375 Chaos Legion packs after 8th of January for the same amount of money. Seriously, don't do it.
So, for the challenge, this were the starting conditions:
Mana Limit: 99
Rulesets: Fog of War (No Sneak or Snipe abilities) and Melee Mayhem (Melee monsters attack from any position)
Teams:
Mine - Summoner: Contessa L'ament ( Decreasing enemy ranged damage by 1) with Goblin Mech with Piercing as tank, Gorlodon attacking with Reach from the second position, with Reach, True Aim and no miss, and Enrage, as back-up tank, Dark Ha'on with Flying and Taunt as fodder, Octopider with ranged damage and Demoralize, reducing enemy attack melee by 1 , Cthulhu with magic damage and Cripple (minus 1 health for every attack landed on target), and finally one Centaur with Snipe, to clear the back of their army.
Opponent - Summoner: Tarsa (boosting with +1 Melee damage and +1 Health ) with Living Lava as tank, using Shield to reduce Melee and Ranged attacks and Fineas Rage as back-up, using Reach to attack from the second position, Elemental Phoenix with 2 Magic damage and Flying , Lava Launcher with 3 Ranged damage and Close Range, using attack from close quarters , Djin Inferni with Giant Killer bonus and 3 Magic damage , and Ettin Spearman with 3 Ranged damage and Piercing.
This was a game that tipped in my favour by the Summoner decreasing Ranged attack by one, and a lot of ranged cards on my opponent team. His Living Lava tank fell first, followed by Dark Ha'on and his Fineas Rage in the second round. Then his Elemental Phoenix died, and my Goblin Mech too. In the round 5 I lost the Gorlodon, managing to kill his Lava Launcher. Then I lost my Octopider, managing to kill his last two monsters by the end of the round 9. I am thinking that I would have lost, with any other summoner than Contessa.
Star of the game - My Dark Ha'on, for getting most of the hits at the start of the game.
On the side note, my continuous support for Splintertalk.io is going well, with my SPT tokens number raising to 1 million. All of it is delegated to @monster-curator, as this account is doing a great work curating the best posts on the forum. Next, I am slowly building some SPT power (63K at the moment) to manually curate on Splinterlalk.io also.
All the best, George
