BlackRock is getting ready to get the first BTC ETF approved. Or not? The US is driving crypto innovation away, and the UK and Hong Kong are welcoming the ones leaving the American continent. Binance is a bit struggling with the bad publicity. What else? Check below:

  • Bitcoin: Everyone is talking about BlackRock BTC ETF, and how they worked with SEC, and time it too well, and are ready to be approved and how this will be the start of the market recovery, also the start of the point where the institutions start to pay attention to crypto and buy their way in. What do you think? Jack Dorsey's payment company, Block, has announced an open beta program for its self-custodial BTC wallet. They got special integrations with Coinbase and CashApp, to make Bitcoin withdrawal easier on both platforms. He also donated $5M to BTC development non-profit Brink, to foster open-source development. BTC supply on exchanges plummets to a three-year low, a level not seen since February 2018. Who's buying all that BTC? Strike, the digital payment firm, has successfully completed the transition of customer assets to its own infrastructure, letting the users directly put in custody their BTC and fiat assets with the company. Blockstream is planning to release its long-awaited ASIC miner in 2024. Adam Back just confirmed this piece of news. The price for 1 BTC right now is $26,497.85 USD.

  • Ethereum: ETH latest upgrade boosted the rate of the new ETH staked from 600K ETH to more than 3M ETH per month. Yet, liquid staking protocols seem to generate superior profit as a superior store of wealth to ETH. The price for 1 ETH right now is $1,727.42 USD.

  • Altcoins and stablecoins: Arbitrum is working on a proposal to eliminate the cost of claiming NFTs on Galxe, in order to increase user participation and attract more partner campaigns. Uniswap outlined plans for Uniswap version 4, releasing a draft code for public scrutiny. Polygon unveiled a plan to build a network of ZK-based Layer 2 chains, securely and instantaneously interacting with each other without requiring additional trust assumptions. Talking about fun, an arbitrage crypto-bot borrowed $200M using a DAI flash loan, making an incredible $3 profit. Yeah, this sounds like my bot. And the best one for last, Tether finally allows disclosure of reserve data amidst depeg concerns, allowing Coindesk access to its data.

  • Blockchain games and NFTs: Wombat Dungeon Masters's new season is starting in 3 days, with MATIC NFTs added to WAX and EOS ones, for more rewards, and the Dungeon World feature was launched, with a Dojo to train champions and get XP, and a mine, if you own land. The DEC burning campaign on Splinterlands got 10 days left, and you need a minimum of 1.8 million DEC to make it to the top 200 for the guaranteed prize. Just checking, is anyone there still not playing Golem Overlord? This is a cool game, despite the initial fee to start it, with the potential to quickly make a decent profit if you keep your burn percentage up. Check it out! By the way, did anyone get their free Fox NFT from Shapeshift? Is quite easy, you just need some easy directions to follow, and on top of that, they also got some Optimism reward quests. Talking about that, Coinbase Wallet also has some Optimism quests, quite easy to do if you have a bit of ETH on the blockchain. Snoop Dogg is launching an NFT passport for the upcoming tour.

  • Good news: Hong Kong invited Coinbase and other exchanges to the region, underlining the country's willingness to accept licensing applications. Bitcoin-friendly Miami mayor announced a bid for US President, launching his own campaign.

  • Bad news: Hong Kong-based trading platform CoinEx settles with the New York attorney general, and they also sued Celsius CEO and Kucoin exchange insinuating that they disregard the law. Peckshield identified and exploit of Hashflow protocol on ARB and ETH, with one attacker stealing more than 615K until now. Binance applied to de-register in Cyprus ahead of MICA regulations. South Korean crypto-lending service Delio suspended withdrawals, a short time after another similar company, Haru Invest did the same move. This is quite similar to what happened to Celsius and BlockFi, and most probably they will declare bankruptcy soon. DOJ charged 2 Russian nationals for the Mt.Gox Bitcoin theft. Crypto.com will close its institutional trading service for clients in the US. The Nostr App BTC tipping feature needs to be eliminated or the Damus app will be removed from the Apple app store, so, they are still jerks.

  • Joke of the week: SEC circus continues, as they wanted four months to potentially respond to Coinbase's request for clear regulations. A federal judge also rejected SEC's request to freeze Binance US assets, authorizing them to carry on with its operations and ordering Binance to reconcile with the proposed restrictions, asking both of them to reach an agreement. Funny, isn't it? So Binance loses spot market dominance for the third month in a row, with a 26% drop. GOP lawmakers are now drafting a bill to reform the SEC and take Gary Gensler out, but will this happen? I guess we will see! But then, I tell you a better one, did you know that the Nigerian SEC ordered Binance to stop illegally operating in the country, as they are neither registered nor regulated. Meanwhile, London is talking about predictable crypto regulations, aiming to attract some major players. A16z is opening an office in London, looking to launch a Crypto Startup School.

All the best,

George
