The story of David and Goliath was my best story, from the list of a thousand stories, told unto us by teacher Francis then in children church.
I was flummoxed at how David, the hero in that story; a young boy as described by teacher Francis, slayed the furry giant, Goliath with Just a catapult and a stone.
I wondered whether it was the same catapult we used then, to chase Lizards, Squirrels and birds that broke into our domain and dared to be seen.
We were taught many things by teacher Francis. He was skilled at painting the story so well, such that I could recapitulate, word for word before my parent and friends.
Now grown, I discovered that many of the story he told, was designed to feed our interest, please our senses, lure us closer to God by hear say!
The sad fact was not emphasized, the pain in obedience wasn't pointed out.
We weren't told that in the Journey to God, bliss is gain and pain greater gain! and that the fire and the flood would still be found on the same road!
We weren't told that we ought believe in Gods word, whether or not we have a collateral. Whether or not we get a sign.
So, when the lord muttered to you "Jump I'll catch you" since the ocean seemed clear to your senses, you wouldn't dare!
With Him who muttered to you, "Jump I'll catch you," you do not have a track record, so you doubt the potency of His power, in spite of the fact that you've heard great tales about Him!
You're insecure in your relationship with God, because your believe is based either on hearsay or what you were told (like the childhood stories).
Over the years, you haven't built strong convictions by seeking God personally.
Daily digging up scriptures by the help of the Holy spirit and let those experience become anchors for your ship, when tempest roars!
Hearsay or people's story are first theirs. You only get inspired by them and motivated to build yours.
Your insecurities in God, is as a result of not knowing (experientially)the person of God.
How less you know, say a lot about how much you fear!
For God can be everything to a person that knows to a great depth his person.
This is the reason why you couldn't jump, knowing that He will certainly catch you!
Real life situation are confronted by convictions not hearsay!
You're ignorance of Gods person, amount to insecurity, doubt and disobedience!
Seek personal encounters!
Seek the baptisms of the Holy ghost!
Seek Intimacy with God!
Trust God's integrity!
