Your subordinates oblige you only within the confines of your official capacity. They work with you just fine during work hours but not a second after. Unlike other bosses, you can't persuade them to take up optional extra hours to deliver your job. They don't pick up your calls on weekends. Sometimes they don't even bother to make up believable excuses, "We didn't have light sir, my phone went off after your first call" will be enough.
You notice they don't throw this attitude at other superiors who are your mates at work. It's mostly when you are concerned, or maybe only when you are involved.
Maybe you are just a boss, and nothing more.
You are not a Mentor, not a friend, not a confidant, not an inspiration, not a role model, not a teacher, not a benefactor. You are just a boss.
If you are going to need them to be more than just your subordinates, you will also have to be more than just a boss.
You can be more.
Can people really work for you, or do they only work with you because they have to?
If you want more, be more. Be a boss...and more.
