If/when the Zombie Apocalypse hits, Vegetarians and Vegans are going to eat meat again. Don't tell me you're not. Y'all are just one juicy beef burger or T-bone steak away from being meat zombies anyway, as far as I'm concerned. I'm surprised you're not already hideously emaciated and lurching into restaurants and steakhouses after dark to satisfy your protein cravings. (Maybe you are doing that on the down low and we just don't know it.) Is your commitment to going on a prolonged hunger strike so you can feel superior to omnivores genuinely that strong? The mere thought that I might have to give up meat until my meds have been adjusted/changed and stop interfering with my digestion is enough to give me that urge on a low level. All going well, it'll hopefully only be for a week or two, maybe a month at most that I'll have to change my diet. I have no intention of sacrificing my physical health for my mental health; it isn't going to work in the long term. https://www.publish0x.com/hunting-of-the-snark/an-unpopular-opinion-vegan-meat-zombies-xdkremw?a=oQeZVJGJep&tid=Noise&t=Noise

Having played around a bit with KeePassXC's CLI utility (keepassxc-cli) this morning, it appears to support sufficient functionality that I can build a TUI utility to interact with it (keepassxc-tui), provided the language I choose has both the ability to interact with CLI apps, including capturing output (subprocess or similar) and TUI functionality built in or libraries to enable that (ncurses, notcurses, etc.) Having not looked at the code, I'm assuming that the Qt-based GUI app does that. (If the developer of it is clever, it does that. Otherwise, the CLI tool's functionality is duplicated in the GUI version.) https://www.publish0x.com/back-to-the-source/porting-keepassxc-to-gnulinux-might-be-easier-than-i-thought-xnklrkx?a=oQeZVJGJep&tid=Noise&t=Noise

"New Kids on the Block had a bunch of hits. Chinese food always makes me feel sick."  — "Summer Girls" by LFO; Possibly the lamest song ever, other than Rebecca Black's "Friday" I used to be able to handle spicy food, but now I can't. I don't know what it is about it, but every time I eat it, I feel nauseous and get stomach cramps for up to twenty-four hours afterwards. My digestive system reacts as if I've been poisoned. I don't know why; I don't recall ever getting food poisoning from spicy food, but every time a coconut. The same goes with mushrooms (although I understand that; some are deadly). That alone is enough to keep me from ever dating someone of the Indo-Asian persuasion, which is a shame.

I have so much ACP on FireFaucet that I don't know what to do with it, other than let the autofaucet run in the background while I do other things and not go back to fill it up every half hour.

It's that time of month again, where money has to flow into my bank account and out again, to pay my bills. The bad news is that I converted my ATOM and ONG to fiat. (Thank goodness for NanSwap; Exodus' minimum amounts for exchange are ridiculous). To move my DAI on the ETH network requires a minimum of 0.025 ETH, which is just ridiculous. The good news is that, thanks to working two extra shifts over a long weekend, I've ended up with more money in my bank account than I anticipated when I did my sums. https://www.publish0x.com/cryptographic-viking/unexpectedly-things-are-looking-up-this-month-end-xjdjlnx?a=oQeZVJGJep&tid=Noise&t=Noise

The other day, I happened to see the video for the AYBABTU meme, which brought back fond memories and made me laugh. Earlier tonight, I saw the Coinbase logo and thought "All Your Coinbase Are Belong to Us", so this happened ...

I haven't posted a Noonday Tune in a while (although by this point, it's more nachtmusiek), so let's go local (not loco) because this is stuck in my head at the moment ... "I'm gonna get my act together. I'm gonna climb the highest tether. I'm gonna clean all of my feathers, Just to be there with you in the sky." — Arno Carstens; "The Act"; The Hello-Goodbye Boys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIv0tf9o-Zc

Today's CAPTCHA-related question: Do apples count as electrical devices? I know it's possible to power a clock with a lemon or potato, but what about apples?

@GreatWhiteSnarkOnNoiseApp

When you've had a taste of freedom, a little glimpse of what life could be like, relinquishing it is always a downer.

@GreatWhiteSnarkOnNoiseApp

Today, there is no sunshine or municipal water. Later, there will be no electricity. What fun! I seriously need to get out of my home country and head to Europe (Spain or Portugal). The combination of lack of reliable and stable infrastructure and shitty people in my life is pissing me off. If that doesn't sufficiently motivate me to make a radical change for the better, then I don't know what will.

What did the colonials drink before they encountered coffee and tea, a lot of hot water with a spot of milk?

Today, I learned that my dog has Cushing's Disease, which means it will have to go onto a special diet and medication. That's over 1 000 bucks a month I'll have to earn *before* I deal with my own bills and living expenses. Fuck! I'm hoping I find fixed employment soon, because my idea of hoping my crypto assets jump in value and I can cash them out just hit a snag. The likelihood of them jumping 100% before month end is extremely slim. Here's an old picture of said pooch, from at least three years ago. https://www.sendnano.com/f/cushings-disease-medication-for-my-old-dog/

Having set up a number of VMs for old versions of Windows (9x to 7), one thing I don't miss about old Windows systems is having to restart after installing just about anything.

Today in Questions Asked While Completing CAPTCHAs: Is that a dog or a cat? I think it's a dog, but there are so many balls in that pit that it's hard to tell. Why are there so many balls?

I finally got rid of my excess XRP! (Sadly, I couldn't get rid of all of it, since 10 XRP will stay in my wallet forever, but it's better than nothing.) SimpleSwap was down for maintenance, so I used NanSwap. (Exodus requires a minimum of 100 XRP in order to perform a swap, which is ridiculous. NanSwap requires only 5.736 XRP and the transaction cost me 0.0005 XRP.)

@GreatWhiteSnarkOnNoiseApp

Not for the first time, the whole loadshedding and shoddy infrastructure situation is giving me the zig. I really need to bring in some money in order to purchase an inverter so I can work through it, but I require electricity and reliable Internet connection for that. It's a real Catch-22.

@GreatWhiteSnarkOnNoiseApp

I hope to one day find an "earning" app, other than TipNano, that *actually* pays out without requiring me to complete 30+ tasks or watch 30+ ads before it does, if ever. A CAPTCHA or two should be all that's necessary at most. I'm not holding my breath, though.

@GreatWhiteSnarkOnNoiseApp

I don't really see the appeal of "Asian women" as a general grouping, partly because I'm not into fetishising ethnic groups, but partly because "flat-chested" isn't my type (not that all Asian women are flat-chested, of course).

@GreatWhiteSnarkOnNoiseApp

Ah, Salespeople ... What's the point of asking me if I want to hear about the product you're selling if you're going to tell me about it regardless of my answer to that question?

@GreatWhiteSnarkOnNoiseApp

Today in pondering about CAPTCHA: Since when did dolphins become land mammals? I know they evolved from canine-like creatures that used to frequent shorelines and eventually entered the sea, but not the other way around.

@GreatWhiteSnarkOnNoiseApp

Yesterday, the bananas were green. Today, they are overripe. THis reminds me of the cartoon in which a guy buys green bananas from the store, but they're brown and rotten by the time he puts them in the fruit bowl. I can't for the life of me remember if it's from American Dad or Family Guy (I always conflate the two) and I can't find a clip for the life of me. I do remember, though, that the son (I think it's Steve, so American Dad) says, "Father has failed; I am Father now!"

@GreatWhiteSnarkOnNoiseApp

Just because I might be having a conversation about my medication and mental health with a friend in public *doesn't* mean that everyone else within earshot is welcome to offer their medical opinion. Sheesh; the sheer rudeness of everyday folks!

@GreatWhiteSnarkOnNoiseApp

Frigging hell, but the cost of living where I do is high! I've just gone and bought bread and milk for my landlord and landlady, as part of a trip to the bank to deposit my meager earnings from the kennels this month. I didn't get much change from fifty bucks! How anyone manages to get by on the little rent I'm paying, I don't know. I really need to find a job that pays decently or I am going to be in trouble next month.

I've just logged into Luno. There are two changes I've noticed: It now uses ReCAPTCHA (which is by Google) and it also asks for my location (via location services). Given that centralised exchanges operating in South Africa also have to register by the end of November this year and Luno uses KYC, that's four things that make me uncomfortable about using it (as opposed to one). Of course, I could avoid all this by using the app. Either way, it's definitely time to find a DEX and stop using Luno. Unfortunately, that means I will no longer be able to exchange crypto for fiat and have it go into my bank account (a necessary evil for the foreseeable future). That's a pity, since I rather liked Luno (particularly how easy it was to use), but needs must. Time to move on, then ...

As I entered the hallway of Mrs. Miller's boarding house, I felt doomed, trapped. I felt a sense of claustrophobia. I couldn't breathe. I felt like I'd been stabbed in the chest, like my ribs had been crushed by the very walls of the place (like you see in bad old horror movies). I imagined what it must feel like to be Cecil, the pet rat in a cage on a grubby greyish-white plastic table, under a harsh neon light. "We are not so different, you and I." That stupid sentence crossed my mind, an unhelpful reminder of my financial circumstances. The difference is that Cecil didn't wear a suit and tie, nor work for The Man. He didn't even work for Mrs. Miller, the lazy fat bastard. https://www.publish0x.com/hunting-of-the-snark/fractures-4-the-boarding-house-a-short-story-xevygjp?a=oQeZVJGJep&tid=Noise&t=Noise
