I installed Actifit on my Android phone a few days ago and tried it out. All seemed to be in good working order. However, it soon became apparent that all is not as it initially seemed.
One has a time limit of forty-eight hours (twenty-four for the preceding day) to submit a report of one's step count.
The app didn't initially accept my posting key, causing me to go back and forth entering it (which shook the phone, causing the reported number to increase inaccurately; I didn't sign up for actishake).
Finally, when it did accept my posting key, it reported that I cannot post a report more than once a day when I tried to submit one. However, no transaction has been posted to the blockchain as far as I can tell. As a developer, I think that surely it can't be that difficult to timestamp a report on a daily basis and confirm that it has been successfully posted/stored. Clearly not.
The app keeps forgetting what options I selected from the "activity type" dropdown, as well as any tags or tracking information (weight, height, etc.).
In order to earn with the app, one has to take a minimum of five thousand (5 000) steps a day. Tough luck if, for some reason, you miss that number by a less than a hundred steps. You're also wasting your time and energy if you exceed ten thousand (10 000) steps a day, since that's the arbitrary maximum cap. It's not unusual for me to do fifteen thousand (15 000) to twenty thousand (20 000) steps on some days, but I'm not going to get rewarded for that effort. Stiff legs and tight hamstrings aren't the only negative effects.
In conclusion: While I initially thought that Actifit was a better option than Sweatcoin (SWC), I'm now not so sure. For all that the sweatcoin app is slow and buggy, it at least isn't fussy about how many multiples of a thousand steps you take, nor does it try to force you to jump through hoops (filing a daily report) in order to earn your SWC (although it would probably count said jumps). It's just too bad that the lack of an exchange makes anything you earn with it practically useless while one HODLs earnings in hope of a swift completion. Aargh!
