Genesis 12:1 - 3
The Lord said to Abram, "Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you". "I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
This verse is God's command to Abram, accompanied with a great promise!
When Abraham received this command from the Lord, he was in his comfort zone, living an abundant and prosperous life. So maybe, if I'm the one in Abraham's place, it would be so hard for me to obey what God has commanded. Another things is that God's command is not really clear, He said, "go to the land i will show you", the place is not exactly mentioned. But Abraham's faith and trust to God is greater than his present situation. Despite of uncertainties, he obeyed anyway. As we continue reading Abraham's story, we will know that his obedience made a great impact not just on his on family but also during our time.
Abraham's obedience led to God's fulfilled promised!
My takeaways from Abraham's story:
God has a great and mighty promise for His children, but this promise is always accompanied with instructions and commands.
Your obedience matters to God.
God will always reward your obedience to Him.
Your obedience to God will always reveal your faith and trust to Him.
Always choose to obey God, even if sometimes you cannot see the whole picture. Obey one step at a time, you don't need to see the whole staircase before you start moving.
To see and experience God's great plan in your life, you need to come out of your comfort zone.
My Prayer:
Lord, thank you for allowing me to see to importance of obedience. Help me to have an obedient heart that will always choose to obey no matter how great and hard the command and instruction is. Let my faith become greater so I can always put my trust and confidence on You. Help me to always choose to obey than complain. I love You, Lord.
