A few squirrels were eating pine cones and jumping around the pine branches as they enjoyed the warm afternoon sunshine, which was a peaceful and joyful scene.

The squirrels were playing happily when they heard their mother squirrel calling out to them, so they reluctantly came to her. The squirrel mother yelled at the youngest squirrel brother, "Why are you eating so wastefully? The younger squirrel, embarrassed, hid behind his brother.

The mother squirrel said again, "If you play all day long like this, you'll have a hard time in the winter. You've had enough fun. Come work with me, and don't waste away the pine cones, but take some back to the tree and store them for the winter.

We haven't had enough!" the squirrels protested. We don't want to work! The squirrels reluctantly obeyed, but they were still unconvinced and asked, "What is winter, you keep talking about? Isn't everything all right now? Why are we preparing for winter?

If we don't store enough food, we'll all starve to death in the end.

A squirrel says, "Believer! So scary! Then let's do what mom says and get to work! Under the direction of their mother, the squirrels gathered the pine cones that had fallen to the ground and worked together to carry them back to the tree cave.

The more the squirrels worked, the more excited they became, and the more they felt it was a new game. So, with the squirrels' diligent work every day, there were enough pine cones in the tree hollow for the winter.

One morning when the squirrels woke up, they heard the fierce north wind blowing outside, and the sound was terrifying. Oh, my God! Mom was right, it's really white!

The squirrels hid in the warmth of their tree hollows, snuggled up to their mother squirrel, and ate their pine cones happily.

The mother reindeer brought a herd of youngsters out into the vast open field, once a green meadow, in search of food.

One of the young reindeer asked, "Mom, there's nothing to eat here, what are we going to eat?

The mother reindeer replied, "Don't worry, our lunch is under the snow," she said. As she did so, she dug up a patch of snow with her front hooves, and there was a patch of dark yellow grass underneath. The mother reindeer let one of her calves have a taste, and the calf said, "Not bad! It's really green grass! It's not bad, either. So everyone followed their mother's example and dug up the snow, and there was grass to eat.

Every day the reindeer herd moved to a different place, and there was grass to eat. However, every day, it was getting harder and harder to find the grass under the snow cover. The long winter was only half over, and every day the mother reindeer had to travel a long way with her herd to find grass to eat.

As the winter wore on, the snow became heavier and thicker, and the herd had to make more and more effort to dig for edible grass. One day, even the experienced mother reindeer couldn't dig up any grass at all. The herd started to panic, and one young buck asked his mother, "I don't think there's anything to eat this time! What are we going to do?

Mother Reindeer replied, "It's not that bad yet, the worst of the weather is coming to an end, and we still have some food left! The mother reindeer was not afraid to start a new demonstration. This time, she dug through the snow, and continued to dig down into the soil; after much effort, she finally got the roots out.

The deer cheered, and at last everyone had something to eat. Although the roots didn't taste as good as hay, they were still good enough to feed the hungry, and the chewing of the roots had a different flavor.

The weather is finally warming up, the mountain ice is melting, the rivers are flowing again, and the ground is softer, so digging for roots is no longer so hard.

The white winter clothes of the prairie are finally fading, but the mother reindeer knows that winter won't be over anytime soon and that the herd will have to live off the roots for a while. But she is confident that her children have survived the final stages of the long winter and are ready for the day when spring will return and the pastures will be green again.

The lesson we learn from squirrels and reindeer is that the virtue of good times is "moderation" and the virtue of bad times is "perseverance".
