Support for the Stellar cryptocurrency has been added to the Samsung Blockchain Keystore hardware wallet. It became the fifth cryptocurrency integrated into the Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
With private keys held in the Samsung Blockchain Keystore, users can sign transactions in Stellar-based decentralized apps or cryptocurrency wallets that have a set of development tools built into them.
Stellar network developers can now create apps and services for Galaxy smartphones. The Stellar Foundation stated that at least four companies from the Stellar ecosystem have committed to building apps for Keystore: DTSOQ, SatoshiPay, Litemind, and Nodle.
Samsung Blockchain Keystore is only supported by Samsung Galaxy devices: Galaxy S20, Flip and Fold, Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10.
“The integration of Stellar into the Samsung Blockchain Keystore is an important step for our network,” said Denelle Dixon, CEO of the Stellar Development Foundation. "Samsung offers a user-friendly key management solution that is driving wider blockchain adoption."
The Samsung Galaxy S10 received the Samsung Blockchain Keystore for cryptocurrency wallets early last year. Samsung first added support for Bitcoin to the Blockchain Keystore in August 2019, after which the company added support for Klaytn, Tron, and Ethereum.
