The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) has partnered with custodian startup Casa to protect the fund's donations and funds held in BTC.

Bitcoin security company Casa has announced a partnership with the Human Rights Foundation to help activists and dissidents around the world protect their crypto assets, which are used to combat human rights abuses.

As a reminder, last month Casa unveiled a new security-focused wallet, Casa Wallet, suitable for both novice and experienced cryptocurrency users. HRF will use Casa's solutions to protect incoming BTC donations.

The fund will also leverage Casa's tools to protect funds that have been contributed to a newly created dedicated fund aimed at supporting developers creating solutions to anonymize transactions on the Bitcoin network. HRF Chief Strategy Officer Alex Gladstein said:

“Bitcoin has tremendous potential to help activists raise funds to combat human rights abuses in a challenging political environment. However, keeping them safe but affordable has always been a challenge. With software like Casa, organizations will be able to keep their BTCs safe and secure in full control, without the risk of losing funds due to error. It is imperative that activists control the private keys of their BTC and can always transfer funds where they are needed. "

In addition, through the partnership, Casa will provide educational resources for activists and non-profit organizations, including participating in Foundation workshops. Casa CEO Nick Neuman said:

“Unfortunately, human rights organizations face unique challenges when it comes to managing their funds, including freezing bank accounts. But bitcoin is a game changer. It allows activists to receive and spend funds without being controlled by governments and corporations. "
