The Filecoin decentralized file storage project has postponed the launch of the final testing phase of the blockchain storage network.
In a blog post on its website, Filecoin reports that it is delaying the launch of the final testing phase by two weeks, until August 3rd. The project also announced a debug period from July 20 to August 3, which will allow miners to test their settings and get an idea of how competitive conditions will affect their rewards.
Filecoin announced earlier last month that a testnet would precede the mainnet launch, which was slated for this summer. However, the delay in final testing means that the project is also forced to change the launch dates for the mainnet, which can now take place from 31 August to 21 September.
Despite the lack of incentives for miners and numerous delays, Filecoin has managed to attract significant attention to its project, especially in China. Recall that the regulated sale of Filecoin tokens brought the project $ 257 million in 2017. It was the first campaign based on SAFT, a recommendation issued by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
A year later, Filecoin announced that the main network of the project would be launched in 2019. Since then, however, the launch of the mainnet has been repeatedly delayed. The last time this happened was in February this year, when the developers announced the postponement of the launch of the main network of the project to mid-July.
