Debby is a young innocent and beautiful girl who lost her parents to the cold hands of death in a ghastly motor accident on their way coming back but good enough, her parents were rich and it was expected that their wealth would be transferred to her but unlucky for her, after her parents funeral, Debby's maternal uncle came and pick her to come and leave with him and his wife and her parents will were shared between her paternal uncle.
They refused her access into the home her family once lived and called her a cursed child saying she was the cause of her parents death and the reasons why her parents were unable to bear any children after they had her.
Debby who was still a young child was sad and depressed but was happy that her favorite uncle was coming to take her to stay with him and his family. Debby's uncle lived in outskirt, so after the funeral, Debby's uncle took Debby along with him.
What Debby did not know was that, going to leave with her uncle in his home was going to be the beginning of her suffering. When they finally got home, her uncle's wife wasn't happy seeing Debby in their house,so she called her husband aside to ask him what Debby was ding in their house.
After much explanation, the wife told her husband to return Debby because she doesn't want to see her but the husband refused saying Debby is the only memory of his sister he has got left and can't leave her to die or suffer in her paternal uncle's hand.
Debby heard everything that had transpired and was not happy because she never expected such from her uncle's wife, she became afraid when she noticed the malicious eyes of her uncle.
Two days after Debby came to live with her uncle, her uncle to traveled for a business trip. Immediately her uncle left, her aunt began to beat her and called her all sort of names. As if that wasn't enough, she threw Debby out of the room given to her and warned her never to step her feet inside the room but to always sleep on the floor of the kitchen because that was were she was meant to be.
Debby cried and begged when she realized that her tears wouldn't solve the problem or save her, she packed her things out of the room and kept them inside the kitchen.
She ordered Debby to watch all the toilets and bathrooms in the house as well as sweep and mop the floor making sure every where is clean. This became Debby's routine everyday. Debby was not allowed to go to school like her uncle's children and she became a slave and was maltreated badly by her aunt.
Her aunt one day went to the market and came back with some oranges, gave them to derby saying she was to carry them and go and sell in the market everyday if she wants to eat in the house.
She had no option than to start hawking in the street while her mate were in school. This went on for three months until one day when Debby finished selling and was heading home, a group of boys stopped her, ransacked her and got all the money she sold for that day.
Debby cried home and told her aunt but her aunt wouldn't listen but beat her tell she couldn't move again and after that, pursued her out of the house and told her to go and get the money o she won't enter into the house. Debby begged and begged but the aunt refused and pursued her out of the house.
It was getting late already and Debby didn't know what to do since her aunt has refused her access into the compound until she came back with the money. Debby began to cry because she was afraid and didn't have any place to rest her head on.
On her way going, a man was driving and saw Debby crying on the road, he stopped the car and came down to inquire from her what happened to her body why all her body was all bruised and why she was crying.
When Debby narrated the story to him, the man was so angry that he asked her to come and show him her aunt. Debby took him there an when he got there, he called the police and asked them to arrest the aunt for child abuse and maltreatment.
The man took Debby away to his house and nursed her, and also enrolled her into a prestigious school. When Debby's uncle came back, he was told what happened to his wife and how Debby was taken away. Her uncle tried to trace her bit couldn't and he could not also release his wife because she was charged and guilty of charge.
Debby was so intelligent that the school gave her scholarship to travel out of state and study any course of her choice. With the help of her new guardian, Debby was able to go far academically in life.
Eight years after, Debby came back from the state, wealthy and very happy. She decided to look for her uncle but when she got to their resident, she was told that her uncle and aunt died in a ghastly car accident the same day she came out of the prison and since then, they do not know the whereabouts of her their children.
Debby was so sad that her uncle also suffered for the crime he knew nothing about. This taught Debby a lesson and promised herself to always help people that she comes across no matter the situation.
