Hi ladies and gentlemen, today I am gonna share about Hackathon, types of hackathon, and its significance for youths.

So, what is a hackathon ?

Hackathon also known as Hack day, Hackfest or codefest. It is a design sprint-like event in which programmers and others involved in software or hardware development to propose a solution of a any undergoing problem in our society.

Hackathon can last from several hours to days. For hackahon which last longer than 24 hours especially the competitive ones, eating food and taking rest is often informal.

At the end of hackathon, There are series if demonstration in which every team demontrates thier idea or solution to a group of judges who select the best few and also these ideas get funds for further development by angel investors.

Types of Hackathon

1.Coding competition

The first ever coding competion was organized by OpenBSD during the year 1999. Previously these hackathons were organized offline, Where people with technical experties like developers, designers, database engineers gather physically and work on a particlular project day amd night. Those days these hackathons last from days to weeks. With the devlopment and advancement of internet technologies these hackathons were put online.

One of the best example is Google code Jam. The common goal of all these contests were to find the best program written in most effiecient way in speed in terms of space and time complexity.

2.Datathon

It is similar to coding competition organized both online and offline manner except that the organizers provide you a particular set of datasets and participant need to develop the algorothm over the provided datasets.

Kaggle is one of the best example regarding the same.Therefore if someone is begginer in the field of data science i highly recommend to visit kaggle and explore interesting topics, one can find various resouces and notebook examples.

3. Hackathon.

This type of hackathon requires presentation as well as prototype demonstration so apart from the tech people maketers and Designer of UI/UX eere also needed while in previous two type only programmers and data scientist were required.

One of the most importent thing in this typenof hackathons is that business person of the team.should be the most presentable person as he is responible to present the idea and able to think of the bussiness plan in order to make the solution economically sound, while the designers were reponible for the designing of the protytype's in such a way that it can caught the audience eyes. Apart for all theae people the tech persone programmer and data science experts are the one who were sole responisble for making the function prototype of the idea.

Hackathons are a big deal...

In the last few years the craze of such kind of events can be seen among youth and todays entrepreneurs. Also there has been various events related to hackathong organized by Top fortune comanies like Google, microsoft, IBM, etc.,

Apart from these goverment of various countries also introduced programs to motivate the college students and to devlop the modern solution of the any underlying problems of the society. Few of such program is SIH(Smart India hackathon), Rajathan Hackathon etc.

Also there were various internal organization hackathing keep happenning in facebook, TCS, Wipro,Google. Even there are various new features which came which came from internal hackathons held in facebook.

In short, Hackathons have come a long way from mark zukerbergsm's basement.
