Mother Earth has been so damaged by humans that it cries for help.
Calamities
Global Warming
Were mostly caused of humans greed to earn money and wreck earth in return.
Illegal logging
Illegal mining
Trying to commercialize provinces or rural areas
At times, Politics with personal intentions especially those who are corrupt who would just approve projects and proposals from a Business Magnate agreeing with under the table transactions then despite knowing they would perform something illegal or against the nature. It is hard to be human because its not easy to deal with these types of people who only thinks of their well being and not of the others.
(Sana naging flower nalang ako. Lol!)
In Carcar City, my partners hometown, the main income of the people living there is basically farming! But one thing I realized, farmers were not given enough benefit and privileged like those of the people living in Urban places but one thing is for sure they do not get hungry in the sense that whenever they do not have money to buy rice or any usual food we serve during meal they can always harvest from their crops/plants.
This is a rice field. It is being prepared for planting. As you can notice there are also Banana Tress all over the place, and yes this place is so rich with Bananas! You can even get it for free. My partners grandmother have lots of Banana Tress and she also have Mango Tree.
Planting rice is not as easy as 1,2,3 bur Filipino's are rice eater, even during snacks most of us would prefer rice.
For a month of staying on the place I realized how nice it is to plant crops that you can eat and sell at the same time.
Remember when I shared the article, about investing into planting "White Pumpkin"?
What is nice about it is we can just think of ways on how to cook it that solves a meal for the whole family! My partners mom could make Lumpia out of it, or she sometimes mix it with egg or Sardines.
If only one could start taking care of Nature and grow more plants be it in the city or anywhere.
It beautifies
It gives oxygen
It takes carbon dioxide especially in polluted areas
Lastly, is we get to SAVE if we start planting crops that we can eat or use in our meal. Say for example, me being a chili lover especially when fried fish, adobo or lumpia is part of the menu. One kilo of chili costs $6! Yep 6 freakin dollars!! But for us, charaaannnn!!!! It is totally FREE!!!
I hope this article could bring realizations to people despite how simple it may seem. Let us all be one with making sure our legacy and upcoming generations won't end up appreciating nature through drawings and paintings alone.
