As I am doing my task tonight I decided to write an article about being a Call Center.
If you are an aspiring Call Center Agent here are some of the things that I want you take note both advantages and disadvantages of being in this industry:
Let us start from the ADVANTAGES.
You may have already been aware of these or maybe not:
Salary
When you work as a Call Center Agent especially if the account assigned to you is an international account where the customers are from the U.S. plus if you are working on a graveyard shift then you would have a good Salary but this depends on your tenure and so as your experience. Ideally, the call center companies would give you almost the same compensation that your previous employer gives or more. It may depend as there are a lot of things to consider but all I can say is that Call Center job can surely help you big time.
Time (Nocturnal)
This may not be an advantage for everyone but I know a coupe of people who chose to enter this industry because they love working on a night shift. It seems like they want to just sleep at night thought personally speaking I never loved bing on a night shift but since I am motivated to do my job then I would have to adjust.
Health and Government Benefits
Whenever you are a call center agent you will get a health insurance or benefit depending on the company. Plus your government contributions would be on the higher bracket as your employer gives more or bigger counterpart. Example: If you got pregnant and receives minimum wage your maternity leave benefit in SSS will be around 10K or less while in a call center since you belong to higher bracket then its gonna be 70K and more.
There could be a lot of advantages though especially if you are a working student/ self supporting or a breadwinner.
Going down to its negativity is so far only one. Of course may depend if you are good with the graveyard shift but the pressure and the task itself could be very risky for one's health.
You may hear people saying call center agents chose to be one because it is easy and that it is brainless job. What they did not know is that we work with billing, rate codes and technical issues all at once and plus we have to do multitasking. We talk while we check how can we get issues resolve.
But one thing I can say, "Before you enter this industry set some goals in life and prepare yourself with such a bumpy road especially during training.
If you want to know the basic of being a call center agent I will write that on my next article so STAY TUNE!!
Been in this industry for almost seven years. Health ang primary con. But with proper time management, healthy living, you can achieve a better future here.
