Sony Pictures is working on a spin-off movie about the Jackpot character.
This is part of a series of films the studio is working on to expand this atypical Spider-Man cinematic universe without the character.
Some of these projects are those of Black Cat, Silver Sable and Kraven, which have been in development for a long time. A movie about the Madame Web character has also been confirmed.
Marc Guggenheim will write the script for the film. Guggenheim was a producer on the series "Arrow" and has long written some comics about the character.
Scientist Sara Ehret is the first incarnation of Jackpot. She is pregnant and doing her research on gene therapy, she is exposed to a virus that rewrites the DNA of her cells.
The baby was born healthy. A situation that puts his family at risk, makes Ehret understand that he now has superhuman strength.
After a while, he tires of fighting crime and hands his partner Alana Jobson the suit, but she must ingest a mutant growth hornet to gain Jackpot skills.
Jobson and Spider-Man join forces to fight the villain Menace and he dies in action. Ehret feels guilty and returns to his days as Jackpot, while raising his family and fighting crime.
