Restore!

[WP] Three menacing delinquents entered the building. Ten minutes later, three polite, friendly and helpful teens emerge. Always negative people go in, and positive come out. You were sent by an agency to find out why this keeps happening.

The agency was never wrong on any of their leads.

Just six hours of surveillance had given me more than enough evidence to agree with the Director's Claim: strange events were going on at 42 Lincoln Avenue, the office complex of Restore!, the company that claimed to specialize in reconditioning people mentally and otherwise.

Normally, the parents usually sent their delinquent kids to boarding schools in abstract locations like Utah in the hopes that the adverse environment and change of bad friends would encourage them to abandon the wild lifestyle and become more responsible, respectable members of society.

Of course, the results wee varying degrees of success or outright failure. Th fact was that this[process usually took months or even years to achieve, and even then it was not guaranteed that there would be a success.

Why then, was this new company, barely six months old, claiming to be able to recondition delinquents and transform them into the model teenagers their parents wanted and the society demanded in JUST TEN MINUTES...

And why were they succeeding every damn time?

The agency did not let such strange occurrences slide. There were a lot of unexplained strange phenomena happening in the world. Found 50 years ago, the agency existed to investigate and find out the root of these occurrences. Shrouded in mystery and known only to high-ranking government and military members, we had offices and rendezvous locations all over the world.

And I, Operative-130. was asked to handle this one. Alone.

"The last three boys have just left the building and joined with their parents," I spoke into the receiver. "All of them have been transformed. The office complex should be closing in a few minutes. I'll be dropping in on their roof from the adjacent building, at 7:30 PM exactly. I'll spend no more than two hours there, irrespective of whether all our mission objectives have been accomplished. I will take snapshots and gather as much information as I can within these two hours."

"Verified, 130. The signal is green, you are free to take action as you have just described."

The line went dead.

It was a confirmation of my knowledge of my objectives. This was my contract with the agency, and I would be held responsible for any action I chose that deviated from this agreed template.

Finishing my donut, I stepped out of the black Honda Accord and crossed the road, blending in with the crowd of people, most of which were in the evening rush hour, leaving work. Restore! would be closing in 30 minutes. I had to be ready on the adjacent roof to drop in, dressed in the janitor's uniform.

The Signal Jammer would handle all alarms and security cameras while I had digital and traditional tools that could get me past any door. If I met a safe or anything that required melting, then the X-Ray cam would help. I was also to install as many bugs and secret cameras as possible.

It was reconnaissance. In and out, as fast as I could.

I dropped in as soon as I saw the electronic doors being closed finally. A drunk janitor off duty had been coaxed into revealing the layout of the place and whether or not there was security, which there wasn't. They trusted too much in their fancy technology and cameras, while I was confident in my stealth skills.

The floor plan I had was accurate, the agency did have a reputation for getting nothing but accurate intel. Raking the west stairwell, I activated the signal jammer, which would cause a bit of static to obscure my figure. Nothing that would stand out, and the static would register as what it normally would on any model of camera.

Soon, I found it. The Reconditioning Room.

The place where the magic happened, if I wasn't mistaken.

I stepped in and took a look around my surroundings. It was just a white room. Fairly reminiscent of the infamous torture room, but it felt the same, except that there was a chair in the middle of a room, facing a screen. The setup was familiar, and as I brought out a laser pointer with a heat function, I decided to investigate something.

Pointing it at the armrest of the chair, I picked a pen and threw it on the armrest. Instantly, a cuff extended from under the armrest like a mechanical jaw, closing in on what should Have been a hand. My hunch was correct, they were only going to strap their 'subject' to the chair and force them to watch...

The static in my receiver buzzed. This had never happened during a mission.

"130, look alive! Hide! Someone's coming up the elevator to your floor!"

This has been in my drafts for a long time because I haven't found a good time to finish it and post due to my exams (which have not ended). I just hope I can finish it today, with the second part.
