Jedidiah knew that there were a lot of ways the Sheriff cwoukd react to his sudden appearance. Shock, Guilt, a possible fainting - anything could have happened. But an arrest? He certainly did not see that coming.
They were all over him and Miranda in mere seconds, getting their hands in handcuffs swiftly. Jedidiah did not resist anyway, smiling towards Miranda and calming her. She was hearing to cause a scene.
"Sheriff, you look like you've seen a ghost," Jedidiah said, turning back to the Sheriff's. He could only guess what was going through the man's mind. Did he know that their game was up? Probably. It had probably dawned on him already.
"You attacked and shot these men from your hideout!" The Sheriff said as a crowd began to gather. Obviously to incnense the anger of townspeople against them.
"I shot too!" Marcel shouted. "You might as well arrest me while you're at it."
The Sheriff only thought about it for a second before bidding, signalling the arrest of Marcel. They would be done with in one swift move.
As the people began to murmur and curse, Martha. And the maids ran out.
"Why are the thrives not being handcuffed?!"
"Thieves?" Asked the crowd, the murmuring increasing with a change in tone.
The Sheriff had forgotten all about these ones. They would tell the people of the real story. But he couldn't silence them, that would be suspicious. The situation had spiralled out of control, and he realized that there was not time for finesse.
All loose ends had to be taken care of.
"These men came here at this ungodly hour to steal. To s9teal, to rob, and to possibly kill - or carry out any of the other vile fantasies they had stored upstairs..."
Jedidiah smiled. The Sheriff frowned.
"...but the Detective, Jedidiah and the lady Miranda who have been working on the case anticipated this situation and did well to come and help me, saving me in the process."
"But how did they know?" Said the Sheriff. "Do you have any idea who these people you've been frolicking with all this while?"
"That's rich coming from you, Sheriff!" Jane said contemptuously.
An uproar began in the crowd. "You might as well arrest the thieves then, Sheriff! Whose side are you on anyway? Free the Detective then!"
He knew he had to arrest Bucky and his men. Nothing had gone according to plan, but none of them were dead. Lucky him. They would have to be settled handsomely later on, but for now they could be arrested.
He nodded towards his officers, and they went about the painstaking job of lifting the men, handcuffing them and taking them to the carriages.
"The Detective is still under arrest for the Illegal Possession of a Firearm and Attempted murder. We'll handle that in the county court, and that's that!"
He said as they dragged Jedidha off.
Right before the carriage door was closed, he looked at all three and smiled.
"Your end is imminent, no matter how smart and brave your efforts here were."
Jedidiah only smiled cryptically again. "You and your employer are done for."

8:23 AM
The townspeople were gathered in the square, all facing the three men handcuffef on a platform.
"You have heard their charges, and now they'll be defending themselves in the court of law!"
"For defending those poor maids against a suspicious midnight attack, judging by the fact that the Detective predicted it. Who is after that family, and why?!" A voice asked.
"We'll judge that for ourselves, as we are more than competent and capable enough to do the job. If you'll excuse me, I'll need to submit this case at..."
"STOP!"
A carriage just burst into the scene, and it's driver was screaming at the top of its lungs for the parading of Jediah and his people to stop. Everybody stated still, and the Sheriff spat and weakted.
Who the hell were these new chess pieces?
Jedidiah stayed whiter until the door of the carriage and he saw the occupants.
He smiled as Angelo stepped down.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I believe the Sheriff has a confession to make, and that the case of Lady Cynster's death is almost fully settled!"
The Sheriff suddenly felt uneasy and apprehensive. Is this man the reason behind Jedidha being unfazed by his imminent demise.
"And to confirm my story.." Angelo paused, smiling for dramatic effect. "...I bring in Scarface Thomas and the gang to say exactly what happened and how it did."
The three men clumsily came down from the carriage, causibg a massive uproar.
The Sheriff knew the jig was up.
