For a brief period in my copywriting journey of last year, I wrote articles on sports - actually football, the only sport I'm really into. I actually had a higher rate of acceptance here, and only about three of my articles got rejected out of ten completed articles, which is good!
Please keep in mind that these articles were created in June 2020, so they will be a bit dated.
So here are the two:
Manchester United are frontrunners in the race to sign Ajax Midfielder Donny van de Beek.
It is official: Football is back, and there's no doubt that things are definitely not going to be the same. The global health situation brought a sad pause to all sporting activities, but now, with many major leagues restarting, we can begin to put all that behind us. The German Bundesliga relaunched in May, and those of the Spanish La Liga and English Premier League are slated for June 11 and 17 respectively. Also, the transfer window has been open for a while, and with many clubs hurrying to acquire signings to build up a formidable team, there is some interesting activity there as well.
Manchester United is now confirmed to be making serious moves to sign the Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, this was announced by the latter club's CEO and former Manchester United goalkeeper, Edwin van der Sar. Spanish La Liga Giants Real Madrid was considered as favorites to sign the player, but the latest developments show that they may be currently unable to afford him. Of course, this misfortune is to United's advantage, as they are now in the lead of the race to sign van de Beek.
Donny is being praised by some retired players, with the great legend at Arsenal, Dennis Bergkamp, commenting that Donny 'reminded him of himself. Van de Beek is certainly a vital addition to the team, but some analysts have commented that with the list of players that United are speculated to be making efforts to sign, he might not be their most important signing. However, Ajax seems to be getting ready to let go of the player, as they have named his replacement as their former midfielder Davy Klaasen. Klaasen, who was touted as a flop during his brief spell at Everton in 2017 has apparently woken up from his slumber and is performing just fine in Werder Bremen. With Werder Bremen likely to be relegated, van de Beek is likely to be sold, and Ajax will be waiting.
Finally, Real Madrid are now seen to be offering Manchester United their forward James Rodriguez at a token price compared to what Madrid paid for him in 2014. Why? It appears that Real Madrid is making serious moves to accumulate funds to facilitate their aim to sign Donny. They want to do this by selling off players that are considered to be white elephant projects, so to say. If United take this deal, Real might inch closer to getting Donny; but the issue is that United want him too. So the situation on ground now seems to be at a standstill, time will tell if United will take the bait or not.
FA Cup set to continue in June; Finals on August 1
