Hello, I´m with a new game review this time for a blockchain game called Rising Star. It´s part of the Hive Blockhain, which is a social media-based crypto where users receive Hive or HBD by curating or other users voting on their content.
The basic premise is that it´s a band management and card collecting game. The best part of it, it´s really is free to play. When you start out you are given a Busker card, it might not have a lot of stats going on, but it´s great if you wanna try out the game first, and you can increase your stats over time.
How does it work? Well, the gameplay is mostly revolved around missions, you start off in the home town zone and work your way up from the lower level missions.
Each mission has a bunch of requirements, for example, number of fans, level, energy, and time duration. Completing these will reward you with Starbits the ingame currency, xp, items and of course, temporary fans which give the player acess to more missions.
But besides just advancing through regular gameplay, your best option is to buy cards. Each card is an NFT (so you really do get own them), and has their own stats.
The fans stat is actually the most important stat in the game, it represents the number of permanent fans. Drunk fans are temporary and only last for 12 hours. Having a large number of fans allowing for higher missions right off the bat.
Luck represents the likely you of acquiring good items, better payment impacts the number of drunk fans.
Skill only starts coming into play once you reach 1000 fans. You have a stat call ego that impacts the number of maximum starbits you earn per mission. Having a higher number of fans but a low skills level increases the ego , lowering your earnings. You increase them through music lessons and cards.
Then finally there is the income modifier, I still don´t what it´s for, but it seems it migh become an important aspect of gameplay later on the game´s development.
There are different card types in the game. First, you got food items cards that refill your energy. Booster cards help you reaching mission requirements faster, gain XP at a higher rate, and store food items.
Then you got people, vehicles and instruments. Besides the stat increase, collecting a bunch of them will allow you to create your own band. Some missions also require the player to own certain cards.
In order to get you need to buy a gamepack, or buy them from other players in the marketplace. You can use Starbits or even Hive to purchase them. The packs also give you the option of using Paypal and regular payments. Some achievements also give you a free booster pack. So, with enough time, investment and active gameplay, is it possible to acquire a sizable collection.
I only just bought one pack for 5 Hive, which already gave me a considerable boost in my gameplay, and one of the free boosters gave me a rare musician card. I sometimes check out the game missions during my downtime, being a casual game that doesn´t require too much of my attention.
So there you have it, the game is still pretty much on an early stage, but has started to receive attention from the Blockchain gaming crowd, and even so far started to develop special events and even the earning of other Hive based tokens.
