Our body needs a number of nutrients in the form of vitamins to function properly. A deficiency of any of these vitamins leads to deficiency in the body, which shows itself in the form of signs that can lead to illness. While some of these nutrients are produced by the body, some also need to be provided to it. This is why is essential to have a balanced diet to include all nutrients in our foods.

One of such nutrient that our body needs is vitamin A, which cannot be manufactured by the body naturally and therefore must've included in our diets.

Vitamin A is a group of fat soluble compounds highly essential for human health which is known to take 2 -6 weeks in the body. They are compounds found in both animals and plants food .The sources include; Liver(vitamin A mainly stored in the liver) ,Egg, Fish,, milk, butter, palm oil, yellow vegetables like carrot etc.

Below are some of the benefits of Vitamin A.

(1)HEALTHY EYE SIGHT :This is the main function of Vitamin A when ever it comes to mind.It plays an important role in vision by maintaining a clear cornea, which is the outside covering of the eye.5e vitamin is a member of Rhodopsin (is a light-sensitive receptor protein involved in visual phototransduction) that allows you to see in low light conditions. The deficiency of this leads to sore eyes, night blindness and if severe Xerophthalmia which is permanent blindness.

(2)HEALTHY SKIN :Vitamin A speeds up healing in the skin,prevent breakings and supports the skin's immune system. It also helps promote natural moisturising of the skin. The Dermis and Epidermis (two layers of the skin) are maintained healthy if adequate Vitamin A is in the body. A deficiency of this vitamin in the body results in unhealthy skin ie dry and scaly skin.

(3)PROMOTES NATURAL GROWTH:Vitamin A promotes the growth of bones, as well as skin, hair and nails .The Retinoic acid present in the Vitamin A play a crucial role in cell growth and thereby helping the body to grow naturally. Deficiency of this in the body results in stunted growth.
