Even though my kitchen skills aren't great, I don't hesitate to try new things when I have the opportunity to do.
I love trying new things even though the chances of having a good result are poor but I have the idea of if I don't try new things I won't be a better person at what I love doing.
Everything about life requires constant practice because we are not made to be perfect, don't be surprised that people who are been referred to as masters or professionals still do some practice behind closed doors.
It would be unwise for a person to believe he or she knows it all after one attempt because the more you practice, the more you can solve more challenges which would make you better at whatever you are doing.
During the holiday I did several kitchen experiments, I tried new recipes and different methods of making a particular food. I just love doing it, I actually don't have the habit of purchasing cooked food because I was trained that way. My mom would cook every meal and she tried to build this fear of proper hygiene in us and it made me believe that no one can make my meal properly than I can do.
With all these beliefs, it would get boring if I don't try new things in my meal.
I was very fond of snacks so I decided to try something new with my regular snacks which is puff puff, I do it differently already and I was even tired of the different styles to the extent that I needed a new method/recipe.
I went through the internet and found a new recipe I can add to my regular method of making puff puff.
The new recipe was adding very ripe Plantain to my regular recipe which includes
Flour
Sugar
Salt
Pepper
Onions
Yeast
Groundnut oil.
Preparation step:
The ripe plantain has to be blended until it is smooth.
You will pour all the ingredients I mentioned in the blended plantain.
Note: A pinch of salt is okay because you don't need much and you should be mindful of the quantity of all other ingredients as well.
Remember that the flour size determines the quantity of recipe you are using.
Mixed it very well, add little water to ease the sticking together of the flour, and mix again.
After it has been mixed proper, cover and put the mixture in a warm environment to make it rise.
Note: If the yeast isn't enough, it won't rise properly and this wouldn't make the snack puff as it should.
Leave the mixture to rise for 30-45 minutes depending on the temperature of the environment you are putting it in.
After it is swollen, the image below is what you will have and it might rise more than mine depending on the temperature where the mixture is been kept.
Now that the mixture has risen, we are ready to fry.
Heat your oil and start putting your swollen mixture bit by bit
Ensure you have enough oil in the pan and allow the oil to heat very well before you start cutting the flour mixture into the hot oil bit by bit in a round shape.
Fry until it turns golden brown and makes sure you pay attention to the heat, it can get burnt easily.
Thanks for reading through, if you have any questions with the recipe - just drop a comment and I will reply to it.
Enjoy the snacks virtually until you make yours.
