A difficult situation indeed brings out the best in us, it makes us realize that there is more to what we are doing and more to what we can achieve in life but this depends on how we handle the difficulty when it shows up.

I am not writing this to mock anyone but I just want to share my experience and that of most people who found a way out of challenges to inspire people who see the stop sign in the difficult moment not knowing that after the difficulties comes success.

At the beginning of 2020, I am very certain that we all had lots of goals to meet. We had numerous plans and dreams to achieve for the year, we have drafted out how we want to get things done but something struck the earth unexpectedly and scattered/ended lots of dreams.

COVID-19

Covid -19 caught the world unprepared and its spread caused lots of panic around the world because of its threat to human survival. There was no cure or drug to slow than the way it takes over the human respiratory system and this even made things worse during it early days of its attack on the world.

To stop the way it was been transmitted from one person to another, the government of various countries mandated a compulsory lockdown for their citizen. Everything was on hold, it looked like the end of the world because we had to stay indoors watching every news to know if there has been any development to control or cure the virus. Instead of getting good news, all we see on the news was the number of lives that have been taken by the virus.

EFFECT OF THE LOCKDOWN

The news about the virus was spreading like a storm and lots of people started preparing for the worse scenario that may happen, the government was taking several cautions on their borders to prevent foreigners from bringing the virus into their country but somehow, the virus found its way into almost all the countries in the world and the lockdown was the next line of action by the government.

The lockdown affected people from different parts of the world, it was a bit fair for some countries whose government provided relief materials for their citizens. It was a death sentence for many countries who government did nothing to help their citizens, it was annoying to know that some government kept relief materials they received from other countries for themselves and families.

Companies were shut down and many workers were dismissed because the company couldn't pay salaries when work wasn't going on. The people who had their jobs were mostly health workers, security officials, farmers, food-producing companies, some government workers, and the standard private company that was financially fit to continue with their salary payment for their workers.

MY STORY

At the beginning of the lockdown, I had my job intact because I was working with a food-producing company. I was a supervisor to a group of the sales team but I visit the field every day to ensure that work was going on smoothly, it was a huge risk working during that period because the crime rate increased drastically.

We move around with food items and cash we made from sales, we were attacked on several occasions but God has always been good to us. A week won't go by without multiple reports of been attacked by thugs, people exhausted what they had quickly and the need for survival made them became a threat to some other citizens.

Apart from the attacks, we were exposed to the virus because we make contact with people every day, handling and goods were inevitable. Even we the mask, gloves, and sanitizers, I still feel very unsafe but I have bills to pay and lots of responsibilities waiting for me at the end of the month.

Despite the pain and sacrifice, I made to keep my job, I ended up losing it. It was one of the shocking moments in my life because I kept wondering what survival would look like for me and people who look up to me as well. We were just three months into the lockdown when it happened and I was in deep sadness for days but light shines at me in deep darkness and I saw a way out of my troubles, a way out of my fears and I am happy that I took the chances immediately.

HOW DID MY STORY CHANGE?

Join me in my next post for the continuation of my story, I am sure you don't want to miss out on it.
