Kudeti was a Yoruba warrior who fought several battles and never lost, no one could boldly say he/she knows his origin because he usually walk into towns or villages that are going through war, and after investigating properly, he takes a side on the people that are been cheated and wins the war for them but something happened to this great warrior and he was forced him to be reborn.

He doesn't wait for people he fought for to show appreciation before he leaves and he doesn't leave any traces. He became very famous but can't be found, women sang his praises and every kid wants to be as powerful as Kudeti and the girls wish they could be his wife because they believe that no harm would come to them, he would be able to secure and protect them always.

Meanwhile, Kudeti lives on Oke-Aarin also known as the middle mountain. People avoided the mountain because of the terrible history attached to the mountain, it was a perfect place for Kudeti who want to be alone always.

He has his reasons and it was very understandable, he was once betrayed by his friends who were jealous of his abilities and he decided not to have anyone by his side again except for the battles he fought because he has pledged his life to fight for people who are been oppressed.

He wasn't born with powers but he was very strong, wise, and brave. He worked as a slave in the palace of the king who cheated on his village because he had great warriors, he was captured during a particular war. His job was to fetch fresh palm wine for everyone in the palace every day and he was diligent at it.

Flashback...

Kudeti was on his way to get the palm wine as usual when he got confused on the path he walked every day, he sensed things weren't right and he decided to go back but he couldn't take his mind of an old woman carrying a bag on the path he walking so he went towards her direction but her steps were faster than his own despite the aged woman lifting her leg slowly.

He stopped to look back only for him to see that he was in his town where he was taken captive.

"How did I get here?", He said to himself.

The woman was still going ahead and he called her.

"Old woman, do you have anything to do with this?". Something is not right, don't you notice it?

She didn't respond until she got to the front of his parent's house.

"This is my parent's house, do you know them? They died in the previous war.

It was then she turned back, Kudeti started screaming because the old woman became his mother.

"Maami", he shouted and burst into tears. I am sorry I couldn't protect you when everything happened, I tried but they were too much for me to fight.

He was walking towards her while talking, he tried to hug her but fell to the ground.

She felt sad she wouldn't be able to feel her son anymore but that was not the case because she had an important reason for showing up.

Rise my son, we can't hold each other like we use to do any longer. I am seeing everything you are going through and you deserve a better life than just being the King's slave, I brought you something that will make you the most powerful man in the whole of the Yoruba kingdom.

He didn't understand why she didn't give him the power when she was alive and he began to question himself.

Why would she do it now that she is dead?.

Various thoughts crossed his mind and he doubted if she was the spirit of his mother.

What if she wants to trap me? Nothing feels real here, I better be careful with her.

He was about saying his mind when she cuts in.

" I can hear everything in your thoughts, you don't have to take the powers if you doubt who I am.

She continued, " you have a big destiny and if you don't embrace it, a lot of people will die and their blood will be on your neck". Your time with the king has made you weaker, I almost didn't believe you are my son either".

He was in deep tears.

"I am sorry Maami (mother), I didn't know what to do. I now carry a slave mark and I will be returned to the king if I dare to escape, his warriors are everywhere day and night.

I better be a slave than lose my life and the mother's spirit responded in anger.

"Where is that coming from?", she screamed.

Baba Kudeti, your son is now a weakling, and don't think he is ready to save powerless people from their oppressors.

Kudeti was weeping all through because he was having flashbacks of the good moments he had with his family before the war.

He said, "I am powerless against these people and I think I will fail if I attempt to challenge them 100 times".

He raised his head, to look at her and he noticed she was fading away.

What's wrong maami? please don't leave me. I need you by my side to be the great son you have always dreamt of, I need your love and support, please don't leave me.

It was impossible for her to cry but the expression on her face showed the extent of the bitterness in her.

I have to go because the sun is rising already and if it catches up with me, I will become a wandering spirit and you might never see me again.

Listen carefully my son, take this calabash and eat the content in it. After that, you will become so powerful that a man like you wouldn't be able to kill you.

He stretched his hand to receive the calabash when the spirit disappeared, he felt sad because he didn't get the calabash.

He was crying hard when he heard his name, he stood up from the ground only to see that he has been dreaming.

It was one of the queens that was calling him, he wanted to move from his mat when he spotted the calabash he was given in the dream.

Is this not the calabash maami gave me? He opened it and picked the content inside when the queen barged into his room.

To be continued...

Sincerely it's interesting and I was reading each line with keen interest. I guess people are caught up with different things ,hence the reduction in engagement of various posts.
