The Carling Cup final show would be going down live at the Wembley Stadium on the 25th of April 2021 and the action will be between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
The first question that came to my mind on seeing the fixture some days ago was "How would a team without a coach face a side like Manchester City?". Earlier this week we saw the news about the dismissal of Jose Mourihno as Tottenham Hotspur coach, the incident came up as a result of Spurs' continuous poor form in all competition this season.
The match could have been one of that El-Classico we do see between Mourihno as Madrid manager and Pep Guardiola as Barcelona manager but we won't be seeing any of such yet we expect an outstanding performance from the two teams.
Manchester City being the Champions of the Carabao Cup will be looking forward to retaining the title at all cost and the have an edge over Tottenham to the title.
The Portuguese was signed as the club manager in 2019 to improve the team ability and quality but things went in the opposite direction since his arrival to the club. The best he did as Tottenham's manager was taking the club to the final of this season's Carabao Cup final which the team would be playing later on Sunday without him.
It is a tricky one choosing who would come out victorious after 90 minutes with the situation of Tottenham hotspur without a manager but sometimes the game can be very funny because we have seen Interim managers go on to win top titles like the Uefa Champions League.
Both teams playing in the Cup final are strong in the English Premier League even though they have different success in the history of English Football. Manchester City has a good standing which could be enough for them to get an easy victory in the final due to the form and having a tactical coach like Pep Guardiola.
Head-to-Head
Looking at the current standing in all competitions, Manchester City has had a very good season. They currently sit at the top of the league far away from Tottenham Hotspur who is currently in the sixth position
Manchester City is also still competing in the Uefa Champions League while Tottenham had already crashed out of the Uefa Europa League.
The last time they both met in a very competitive match was back in 2019 in the Uefa Champions League, Spurs kicked City out of the Champions League. Tottenham went as far as reaching the Champions League final where they lost to Liverpool Fc in the final.
No one was expecting Tottenham to dump Manchester City out of the competition but it happened after the home and away fixtures.
City crashed out of the competition due to their inability to get an away goal in the second leg fixture of the competition.
We could end up seeing Tottenham win the Carabao Cup on Sunday if Manchester City underrates them as they did in the Champions League.
Aside from major Cup competitions, Manchester City has been very dominant in the league although Tottenham got the better side of City in the 2020 season. Tottenham defeated City twice last season in the home and away fixture of the English premier league
Performance in EPL
Tottenham is currently struggling in the Premier League, they have managed to get two victories in their last 5 league matches.
They drew twice and lost one to Manchester United before Mourihno was sacked.
Manchester City on the other hand is having a great time, they have won four out of their last five league match.
They unbelievably lost to Leeds United and this kind of loss is what put Manchester city at risk against Tottenham.
Conclusion
Without argument, it would be a tough challenge for both sides even with Tottenham having a top-class manager who would put the team on the right tactical part.
Manchester City still has lots of engagement in different title races, they might not be giving their very best. Whichever way it goes, we hope to see the best performer win at the Wembley stadium.
