April 30. The Czechs celebrates the "burning of the witch" day. it is used to believe that the power of witches would weaken as the weather got warmer. So they thought that if they made something that looked like a witch and burned it, so they could finally get rid of the cold weather. But according to myths/stories from great grandparents, here in vysocina, they really burned witches some 100+ years ago. like in any other parts of europe and america, where they burn people who they believed practicing witch craft and patronizing demons. But unlike in other areas, they used life size witch dolls, in our area only used regular witch dolls. heheh And before going home, after the witches where "punished", i bought this candy. its called turkish med. (med means honey here) for 2.50$.

nice. good to know if ever. sna mamet ko sia if ever
Well better dolls for sure... poor women in that time, burned just because they wanted to heal others with plants. At least we can reflect about it now and don't repeat bad practices against freedom of thinking.
yes .like in movies. many where being suspected of being witches because of some unexplainable events, and situations which its not their faults.
