106 passengers enjoyed the ride looking at the beautiful landscapes of Italy. When they came to the newly built tunnel, one of the longest and largest of that time, the mystery began and an incredible urban legend was written.
On July 14, 1911, the Zanetti company offered a free ride to rich Italians as part of its advertising campaign in which they presented a new train. 106 passengers enjoyed the ride looking at the beautiful landscapes of Italy, and they were especially looking forward to passing through the newly built tunnel, one of the longest and largest of that time.
The train entered a tunnel in Lombardy, but never got out of it. Workers and police searched every inch of the tunnel and found nothing.
The train had nowhere to go except to get to the other side. There were no signs of an accident. However, two passengers were found who jumped out of the window before entering the tunnel.
- I heard a muffled murmur and at one point I saw white smoke, which literally swallowed the whole train. It was so scary that I panicked and jumped out the window. I saw that someone else jumped after me - said one of the survivors. The man suffered from insomnia and trauma for some time.
During World War II, this tunnel was bombed and closed forever. No one could explain this amazing phenomenon. There were even witnesses who said they saw the train enter the tunnel and not exit. Several reports say that Zanetti train passengers were seen in Mexico.
A psychiatrist at a local hospital claimed that 104 Italians were admitted in a "hysterical state". That they were all dressed in strange clothes claiming to have traveled from Rome. One of the passengers allegedly had cigarettes with the date 1907 written on them. It is claimed that cigarette boxes are still kept in a Mexican museum. There was no concrete evidence of this case in Mexico, nor is it known what happened to the patients.
On October 29, 1955, three wagons allegedly appeared in a village in Ukraine. Pyotr Ustimenko, a railway worker, claims that they were silent. And the description of the train he gave corresponded to Zanetti's train. The train, with the blinds tightly closed, the doors open and the driver's cab empty, moved completely silently.
The train was seen several more times at different destinations and time periods. Even today, people do not stop researching the strange phenomenon of the Zanet train.
