Life's Lesson #4 (Farming)
As with everything else in life, there are many circumstances that appear to be beyond our control. Farming teaches us that better things may await us after the storm; after all, each season produces different results. However, as we learn to accept minor setbacks and to be patient, we realize that there maybe a larger season why the original plan did not work out and that perhaps a bigger outcome is in store for us.
Farming teaches us to be patient. Patience in accepting what was, is and will be. And if we do fail, patience teaches us to restart and wait again.
Farming can help us determine who we are, discover what motivate us, and understand why we do what we do. It teaches us to reflect on our own personal stories as well as those of the farmers with whom we interacted. These stories gives us a sense of direction as we try to connect and make sense out of all those events.
The majority of these events are inspired by life's hardships, challenges, and triumphs, which motivate us to make a difference and inspire others to do the same. What we are now is a mash-up of the stories and the experiences of the people with whom we have shared our lives. These memories, when combined, form a compass that guides us to our destinations. And, little do we realize, as we chart our own paths, we are also shaping the personalities of others.
