São Paulo Futebol Clube is a Brazilian multi-sport club from the city of São Paulo, capital of the homonymous state. It was founded on January 25, 1930, having interrupted its activities in May 1935, and resumed in December of the same year.

From now on, fans of the São Paulo club can now use bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to purchase tickets for matches who have São Paulo as home team.

The new payment option is available for all games in which São Paulo is home, whether at Morumbi or at another stadium. Fans will be able to pay with cryptocurrencies bitcoin (BTC), bitcoin cash (BCH), ether (ETH), wrapped bitcoin (WBTC), litecoin (LTC), dogecoin (DOGE), shiba inu (SHIB) and with five stablecoins backed by dollar: GUSD, USDC, USDP, DAI and BUSD.

The initiative is the result of a partnership with the crypto exchange Bitso, which sponsors the team from São Paulo. Bitso is an international company that has a platform through which customers can buy, sell and use cryptocurrencies. It was founded in 2014 by Ben Peters and Pablo González in Mexico as a bitcoin exchange, and has been growing ever since, encompassing new cryptocurrencies.

The cryptocurrency payment system is already up and running. The first fan in Brazil to buy the ticket with crypto chose to pay with bitcoin and, to mark the historic moment, was presented by Bitso and SPFC with an NFT representing the first ticket in the country to be purchased with the digital currency.
