One of the most basic cat care is the maintenance of its litter box. Cleaning your cat's litter box periodically helps us felines to have a pleasant space where we can go every day to do our needs.
Just as humans also like to find a clean bathroom every time you use the toilet, cats, who are very clean animals, also like a litter box free of residues and bad odors.
We tell you how to take care of a cat by cleaning its litter box through a few simple steps, and how often you should repeat the procedure for a correct maintenance of its hygienic area.
How often should you clean your cat's litter box?
In order for us to be able to use our litter box without any problem, you should clean it periodically. This will depend mainly on the type of litter (clumping litters require more maintenance than absorbent ones), but other elements also play a role: the cat, the house or where the box is located also matter. It is a procedure that does not take long, and with it you make sure that bad odors do not accumulate at home.
How to clean the litter box
Cleaning the litter box is done through 5 simple steps:
Empty the litter box completely, removing solid and liquid waste. You can help yourself with some paper to make it easier.
Fill the litter box with warm water and add soap, leaving it to act for about 15 minutes.
Remove the water and clean the surface of the box with a brush or scouring pad. Make sure it is completely dry.
Refill the litter box with new litter, and place it in the usual place where your cat usually uses it.
Clean the area around the litter box. Remove any dust that may be released by the litter every time your cat uses the litter box, as well as any dirt and other debris left on the floor. It's that easy!
