Orange Marmalade

Sometimes, we feel like we aren't enough; like our presence cannot suffice someone's ultimate longing for another, that no matter how much we get worn out just to fill the void in someone's heart, nothing will change. Sometimes, we can think that the whole world is going against us, being left, wondering what happened? And why the world blew our dreams away with the wind and with tears escaping. Sometimes, no—most of the time, we feel worthless, that even hearing the word 'less' itself would always leave our hearts shattered in pieces. In a world filled with hypocrisy, we tend to hide the scars that dwell in the depths of our skins. We bleach the stains embedded in the details of our clothes. And we cover and clothe ourselves with corduroys, to hide them from the blazing eyes of judgmental beholders. That's the cruel episode of reality, the bars we have been confined and constrained with. We stand for different perspectives, notions, and beliefs, one by one, strand by strand, and blood by blood. We can never force and manipulate people to think the way we do. We can never force them to look at us with love, or at the very least, with bond, with memories tied up; because we are always and only looked upon with pith to be traced in the reflection of their eyes. Being named with names must have been a cliché for us already that breaking down isn't our thing anymore. Nevertheless, fortunately, how could people be being provoked by sharp eyes and murderous tongues live a life with the absence of grudges and resentments? How could people rise after falling so badly, with knives flicked on the ground, and mud pulling you forcefully down to the core of the earth? And how could people become so strong, enough to break the gravitational law, and fly? Because finally, we can all be orange marmalade. Who could have known that the things we would rather hide and throw away, the peelings of these oranges, could be the main ingredient for such a rich and stimulating recipe? Because it's the scars and the stains that make us whole and perfect. And it's the peelings of these oranges, the useless one, that spiced up its life and made it more beautiful and unfathomable. Just like how orange marmalade paint ear-to-ear smiles to people's faces, who have come to indulge with its taste and aroma, the same way we could make the people who love and care for us beyond happy. We often think of all the struggles that had come along the way, but recovering them after a letdown is self-rewarding. Beauty isn't only skin deep. Orange marmalade only proved to us that scarless or scarred we may be, we still can be beautiful, or maybe, even more, and more and more beautiful.
