Developing Calmness
Teaching is never been easy. I've been in this profession for three years now and until now it still feels like every day my patience is always being tested. It's not like all the time I am in a good mood and be able to control my pupils. In a room, you will encounter different behaviors and you have to manage that. I am still even thinking about how was I able to manage those kids. Aside from work, what stresses me more are the other people. I hate how much they talk behind my back. It's not that it affects me but what I hate most about is that it's all not true. I couldn't keep my inner peace because of the random thought that is rambling inside my head. It annoys me most of the time. I fear sometimes also that if they will not stop gossiping about me, I'd go crazy or lose my mental health. I should talk to them but I just can't. So, I have come up to build the value of calmness and being able to control despite the different emotions I have. Calmness means having composure and serenity amid obstacles or severe stress. It is demonstrating “grace under pressure.” Calmness is achieved with having a firm understanding of one’s self. This brings about quiet but strong confidence that results in calmness. It is described as inner peace or peace of mind, which is synonym with tranquility. Anger, anxiety, excitement, frustration, and fear are some of the threats to calmness. Anger and anxiety are what we feel when we are disappointed or when faced with trials and difficulties or something extremely annoying. When we are angry, we sometimes say and do things that we later regret. When things do not happen according to our plans and expectations, we need to keep calm and think things through because the decisions we make when we are angry are often the wrong ones. One should learn to manage anger, anxiety, excitement, and frustration. Slowly breathing in and out, keeping still and emptying the mind for a few moments, telling oneself to relax and loosen up, and holding back from reacting may help bring peace and calm. Fear is another destabilizing feeling. As long as there is fear, there is no calmness. Drawing on courage thus helps bring about calmness. Calmness helps us maintain good relationships. It is also a trait that people look for in a leader. Anxiety is when one is “unnerved” because of extreme worrying. It is by drawing on hope and confidence that one can bring about calmness. Inner calmness is a key to a happy and contented life. If you know yourself well enough, you should not be bothered by what people say about you when they are angry. When you are the one angry, you must “tame” your anger with the virtues of patience and goodness. Doing so will bring about calmness. Good communication and good decisions are made possible when we are in a state of calmness. Lead image from Google. Thank you very much 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
