LunarCrush Introduces New Profile Strength System
LunarCrush is a crypto powered social metrics platform that pays its users with Lunr tokens for spending time on the site/app and giving opinions. Users earn points as they participate and complete tasks on the platform, at the end of each day the total number of points users earn are tallied up and a consistent daily pool of 65,000 Lunr is split across all users that have earned points that day.
Recently LunarCrush has revamped the how many points users are able to generate each day using a new system called Profile Strength which recalibrates the distribution of daily points and disperses more benefits fairly by arranging users into tiers based upon all of the combined factors.
At first glance I was unhappy about this change because it looks like a downgrade but because I am getting less points per day, but in practice I am actually getting more than twice the amount of Lunr tokens per day.
Profile Strength System
When a user creates a LunarCrush profile or adds new connections, their profile strength is calculated based on factors such as social media activity, age of accounts and transaction history across supported blockchains.
Before the changes I was getting 30 opinion points and 60 mins/day until the changes reduced my daily points to 20 opinions and 40mins/day. This sounds bad but after these changes I have been receiving more than twice as much Lunr from the daily distribution despite having less points per day so it seems everyone getting less points has rebalanced things in my favor.
Profile Strength Tiers are determined by the following criteria:
Noobie
Requires: Sign into LunarCrush on any device
40 max points per day depending on user level (before multipliers)
5 points for any activity per day
5 opinions per day (5-15 points depending on user level)
20 minutes on site/app per day
Novice
Requires: Connected mobile app + web + acceptable HODL/Send Ratio.
65 max points per day depending on user level (before multipliers)
5 points for any activity per day
10 opinions per day (10-30 points depending on user level)
30 minutes on site/app per day
Enthusiast
Requires: Above requirements + at least one 6-month old blockchain account + 6-month old Twitter account + follow LunarCrush on Twitter
105 max points per day depending on user level (before multipliers)
5 points for any activity per day
20 opinions per day (20-60 points depending on user level)
40 minutes on site/app per day
Pro
Requires: Above requirements + at least one 1-year old blockchain account + 1-year old Twitter account + follow LunarCrush on Twitter
130 max points per day depending on user level (before multipliers)
5 points for any activity per day
25 opinions per day (25-75 points depending on user level)
50 minutes on site/app per day
Master
Requires: Above requirements + at least one 2-year old blockchain account + 2-year old Twitter account + follow LunarCrush on Twitter
95-155 max points per day depending on user level (before multipliers)
5 points for any activity per day
30 opinions per day (30-90 points depending on user level)
60 minutes on site/app per day
Optimizing Profile Strength
There are many different ways to increase your Profile Strength and many new ways are being added each month so it is good to check the site regularly to see if there are any new connections available. The two most recent additions at the time of writing are Coinbase and Discord.
Profile Strength is determined by the following criteria:
LunarCrush
Personalize profile by adding an image or photo
Give profile a nickname
Enable push notifications
Maintain an acceptable HODL/Send Ratio
Use both the app and the desktop website
Hodl/Send Ratio
The acceptable Hodl/Send ratio is 90% hold vs 10% send
Novice tier and above require holding atleast 90% earnings to qualify
Twitter account age
Follow @LunarCrush on Twitter
Number of Twitter followers
Number of tweets created
Number of crypto-specific tweets
Number of days since first crypto-specific tweet
Discord
Connect Discord account
Ethereum
Number of days since first transaction on Ethereum blockchain
Number of ERC-20 tokens traded
Zilliqa
Number of days since first transaction on Zilliqa blockchain
Number of ZRC2 tokens traded
Coinbase
Number of days since first transaction on Coinbase account
More connections are coming soon, personally I am hoping they add Crypto.com and Crypto.org blockchain soon because both of those are 1-year old for me and would boost my profile strength tier to Pro.
Final Thoughts
It is interesting to see these changes taking place on LunarCrush, I think that overall so far these are positive changes because it gives users a more clear path to increasing rewards and distributes the Lunr tokens more fairly throughout the community based on a wide number of factors.
My main takeaway from this is that in order to reach the higher ranks you need to connect accounts with some age and maintain an "acceptable" Hodl/Send ratio to continue qualifying for the ranks. It might look discouraging at first but I think that overall these changes making it harder to qualify for higher ranks are a good thing because it makes those ranks better for those that do and adds extra incentive to holding Lunr tokens.
